... I wonder if they take time to absorb the wonder of what they are seeing. After leaving the tour which took ages as the traffic was a nightmare – I made my own way to the temple complex of Wat Pho which contains the temple of the Reclining Buddha – it is huge – 46 metres long and 15 metres high. Very adventurously I made my own way back to the hotel by river taxi, sky train and the last stage on foot. I then met up with the others and off we went for a fab seafood ...
Hong Kong, China spoonski... I loved to meet and exchange stories with other travellers. I guess that's why Travel Pod website is so popular. What had originally been a routine wash day had turned into quite a discussion group with many different stories and laughs all around. "Yes",we did eventually get our washing and ironing done.
HK night life is really vibrant, with a fast moving city and the most colourful neon lights dazzling the tourist and motorist. We ...
... and Minnie chatting in Cantonese? Yeah).
I was exhausted by then, and broke too, so I didn’t have any qualms about giving up my “I’m staying til 11pm!” plan for the “I’m taking the MTR back and collapsing into bed.” option. I met a few stormtroopers and a Darth Vader in Central, and there was a man with an axe in his back on the way back from Disneyland. Besides them (and they were foreigners, come to think of it), there were mainly ...

I would like to preface with a huge thank you to everyone that helped to make my birthday so special, in all countries. From messages sent to actions here and everything in between- it was so nice, thank you.
My birthday was great.
It started on Sunday with a great authentic Japanese meal, an assortment of japenese style foods which we all nibbled from. Then followed by a trip to a dessert shop where we once again tried a selection of desserts ...
... At the peak, we were accosted every 3 seconds as we walked along, and it got very tedious, very quickly. At least we went today, and not tomorrow, which is 1st May, and Labour Day in China and Hong Kong, and a 3-day holiday for everyone. Apparently, queues at the border are likely to be 2 hours or more, and people will be swarming everywhere. After the train trip back we had a couple of quiet ones in the local boozer, and then ...
Hong Kong, China zednik... well, apart from the exisitence of pavements, proper roads and the lack of the stench of public urinals). People tell us that buying from somewhere that needs a tout to get you to go in is a mistake. We also managed a Saturday night junk boat ride in the harbour of Hong Kong courtesy of Stephen Punch, who had access to his employer's boat, from where we were able to watch the nightly light show and see a good chunk of the coast of Hong Kong island. On ...
Hong Kong, Hong Kong willa_andrew... in a Taxi to the airport and suddenly found myself in the air. My trip home was quite uneventful as one would guess it would be spending almost 36 hours in airports and planes. I flew Bali to Singapore (Singapore Airlines which I highly recommend), cruised the airport for 5 hours, flew Singapore to Hong Kong, spent 14 hours in HK (which included a sleep tied to my backpack, only to be woken up by someone rubbing my leg...yikes, the longest ...
Hong Kong, China mwallz... in Hong Kong is on HK Island... to get over there you can take the subway or get the star ferry... surprisingly the Star Ferry is actually cheaper and a nice ride and view all the way... so we mostly did that, unless we were in a rush... Hong Kong was a very lazy place for us... we had a few errands to run, which included visiting the Vietnamese and Thai embassies to arrange visas, and... um... actually that's it... But it was all very ...
Hong Kong, China you_know_zo... to their respective places of billeting, we arrived on our own. I did not expect that Empire Hotel in Kowloon would be spectacular. I'm a big fan of high ceiling structures, and their lobby is perfect. Great ambience. I'd say their front desk personnel are good. As of now, I do not know yet if the location of the hotel is great.
The rooms are cozy and modern. A lot of people (in TripAdvisor) say that they find it small for them. But for my ...
