Back to an educational day! Today we met our driver and our tour guide to head to Kronos place and head up to the birth place of Zeus. First to the palace. This is a Minoan palace that was 4000 years old. It was amazing to see the art, pottery that had been discovered. It was also impressive how peaceful (they had no warriors) of a people they were and also how advanced. They has piping and a septic system. We also got to sit ...

It was a lovely spot to cool off and watch the sea and ...

... This hotel is much larger and more typical to the U.S. than our previous hotels. We just dropped off our bags and went for another two hour drive to Lasithiti Plateau. Lasithiti Plateau is located inland and at a much higher elevation than Heraklion and is a series of twenty tiny villages. Some of the buildings in the villages still have no roofs from bombings in the World War Two invasion of Crete. The villages are known ...

... with beer. So since last night was our last night here, we decided to order the croquettes. They were very interesting! They're shaped like logs about the size of an egg roll and they're essentially deep fried gravy. Not the healthiest food, but they were delicious. And we all thought it was hilarious to be eating Dutch food in Greece. Today we're headed to the ruins of Knossos, which was an ancient Minoan settlement and is also where ...
