  • Up early ready for our big day. We took the MTR over to Prince Edward station where we walk along Prime Edward road ( about 2 km) until we came to the flower market. It was massive taking in 3 city blocks, it was extremely busy as everyone was buying for the new year. At the end of the flower market was the bird market. ... going on it’s unbelievable. All jammed so close together but working like a perfectly tuned machine. No mess, no hiccups, no waste. Wow.

We arrived at our little flat - cheap at £100 per night for so much space - and realised why it was cheap. We were in an area of Hong Kong Island called Wan Chai which is a big shopping area but also we now realise, pretty rough and sleazy - loads of bars/strip joints/dance clubs etc. It was lively and noisy, a bit edgy and ...

... was the last day in Hong Kong, and I had planned to go for a hike on Lamma Island. However, Mom and Dad were afraid we would be too short on time and they wouldn't make their flight. So instead we had a relaxed morning and then walked next to the water for a bit, taking in the skyline once more. This day the weather and thus the visibility was a bit better. We wanted to enjoy a lunch in the sun - but lunch turned into high tea! (One of the musts if you're in Hong Kong).
