Usually after a long hard week, weekends are supposed to provide quietude. People look forward to put their mental batteries to charge-up during two days, so that it can run for the upcoming five. I am no different. After sitting for straight four to six hour long lectures and thinking about those hours for the rest of the day is what a Master's degree student in Milan usually does on a regular weekday. Although, one day ...

          Tuesday 20th October

Up at 5.30 & off to return the car at 7.00. Finally arrived at Gatwick airport at 7.30 & the plane left at 10.15 for Verona. Arrived in 90 minutes & took the shuttle bus to the station & a taxi from there to our Residencia. Between not having done a ton of riding the last couple months and all the additional weight on my bike, I knew I wasn't going to be able to get through another 120km day.
The train took longer then I expected because I had to transfer at Verona Porta Nuova and wait ...

... is used for concerts in good weather. We did not tour the interior or ramparts as there is on-going construction. From the arena, we strolled Via Mazzini, the high end shopping street of Verona. Gucci, Prada, etc can be found here. Great looking Italian fashions with prices to match. Via Mazzini took us down to Piazza Erbe where there was an open market set up selling fruits and vegetables, souvenirs and clothing accessories (hats, scarves, gloves). ...

... four hours spent wandering around went quickly with the many stops we made. We found ourselves hungry and stopped near our hotel for dinner at a small restaurant for an okay dinner of spaghetti con vongole (spaghetti with clams) and risotto with shrimp. Not worth recommending but the waiters were friendly and humorous.

Back to our hotel about seven after a fun day of Vino in Verona.
