We finally left the totally authentic Village Inn this morning and said goodbye to Te Anua, which had been a much more enjoyable base than it had seemed when we drove in, in the pouring rain on Monday morning. EN: Our first full day in the Otago region was rock formations day. :-) We headed towards the coast through the Waitaki Valley, but in Duntroon we made a detour to go check out the Elephant Rocks, a big bunch of boulders sculpted by erosion (didn't we say it was rock formations day?), lying in a field, which make for quite a bizarre and peaceful landscape. I had heard plenty about Dunedin from other New Zealanders that I'd met about the place so I thought it was worth a visit, it was good enough, took a nice ride on a train for a day. Was good enough craic. Picto and meself took it easy while McCoy went for a spin in a Pajero ;) We went out one night here but nothing much was happening. The hostel was decent but the nicest thing about Dunedin was the coffee shops pretty much!
