... inspection and a notice giving it's intimate dimensions. Far more spectacular was the view back down over Roanoke, we could pick out our land marks, the Wells Fargo building, the Hilton and even our motel beyond. Now, had we a telephone enabled with data roaming, we could have looked into the cam recorder at the centre of the star and beamed our presence back to you all, now that would have made your day we expect. It is designed with numerous scenic overlooks and access all the way to the towns and cities along the way. The mountain range is full of tracks, waterfalls and camping grounds. In the U.S. they also have 'Rest Stops' which provide very clean toilets, vending machines and picnic areas about every 50 miles, these are very good to pull in for a stretch ...

Got up early to go for a walk. The lobby had a very long line of Africans who have been attending a conference. Also police and Secret Service everywhere. Some in suits and some in uniform, some with bulletproof vests on. Concierge said that Obama was attending the conference to give the Keynote speech. Hung around but didn't see him enter. Very posh hotel. Had Rudy Valley play at it, Beatles stayed there and lots of Presidents and other famous people. Today we went out to ...
