... cotton, cows and crude oil, kick up clouds of dust. Texas is massive!!! Driving over the border and another time zone into New Mexico is much the same…huge, slightly less flat with a couple of mountains plonked on the horizon (the nearest being Haystack Butte!) and the road just goes on and on and on...

Exactly what we were expecting but on a much bigger scale and we're still only just over half way across...

Woke up this morning to be greeted by mr cockroach which was nice. The motel was dead on enough but just wasn't in the best of conditions and the mass of cockroaches outside the door don't help matters. Headed towards Elk City so we could stop at Walmart for lunch. ... but no hail or 70 hour mile winds. I think the canyon protected us and especially the trees around us. The young couple next to us left to stay in a motel in Canyon and returned the next morning to head home. Raccoons had been in their campsite and their tents held up but they were wet.
