I enjoy traveling alone. And, I do mean the actual travel. Long train rides and stopovers to myself are a small pleasure that I don't really experience - even during "me time" - while at home.

While I could have flown from San Diego to Mexico City, I opted for a slightly cheaper flight from Tijuana. My good friend's husband dropped me off at 7am, and with plenty of time to kill until my 1:45p flight, I gave in, purchased a ...

... Didn't see any big horn sheep but the signs said they would be watching us. It was getting hotter as we descended into the valley. By the time we got to Berrego springs at 7 pm it was 48 degreesC . Bloody hell it was hot!!!! We arrived at the airport, checked in and quickly ate lunch.

Our flight was uneventful and we made our way to Hertz. Our luggage wouldn't fit so we had to upgrade the car. Once in the car we motored north to Hilton Resorts in Mission Hills for a well deserved night's sleep. Yes, we had to unload all the luggage!

... it hot" was filmed here in 1958, and you can easily recognise it from that (well I can anyway, I've seen that movie quite a few times). And if all that wasn't enough already we then headed to Tijuana for the afternoon of jewellery buying. It was great, sure it's a bit run down but the merchants there are lovely and lots of fun. They try to haggle you into a sale, but their attitudes are so fun that it doesn't feel pushy. ...
