Tidy little cabin with double bunk bed, single bed above and another 2 single bunk beds. Small fridge. Well stocked and maintained communal kitchen. Jumping pillow for the kids. Internet was quick and well priced at $7.00 for 100GB although it must be used within 24hrs.

Night 2 camp site at freezing Coromandel. We were the only ones with tent out in winter while the other lucky campers were in the comfort of their little camper van or the camp site hut.Well at least shower and toilet facilities were clean although we did need to pay 50 cents for 15 minutes of running water. That’s not long enough for girls …

A quiet but long day today. We checked out of Bay Of Islands at 8:30am and started our 5 hr long drive to Coromandel. Amy drove the first hour and I drove the second. We stopped at Wellsford for fish burgers and coffee before Jason took over the driving and we carried on through Auckland and down to Coromandel. We saw beautiful coastline between …

After a half day of searching for the best deal we head out in the morning to pick up the jam jar. It turns out to be a small white Daihatsu, sirioni. We get on the road, as you near the Coromandel it comes into it's own. The hills, forest everywhere completely beautiful it draws you in to an unbreakable awe, only, unusually, broken by the many old …

We managed to get quite a lot covered that Saturday.....

As we headed south we came back through Auckland and headed to a place called "One Tree Hill" which one of the chaps who works for Roadrunner Rentals had told us about. This is a cracking little 'mount' in the city and has great views across the whole place. There were also a lot of …
