... on the bike , with almost 500 kms to our next stop over, a boat on the Danube.

But there was one more meal to be taken here on the Delta. Tavi arranged for one of his neighbours to cook us a meal tonight. Apparently they do this a lot for guests here, it's not a restaurant by any means, just an ordinary house. The food was wonderful, fish of course, with plenty of garlic sauce . The two ladies spoke ...

... very lucky to have plunged our toes in so many different seas. We have splashed in the Atlantic, froliced in the Pacific, dipped our respective toes in all the seas surrounding the UK as well as from various points around the Med. and the Adriatic. We have even waded into the South China Sea and off the Australian coast. But never the Black Sea, not even in our dreams. It was only when planning that we realised we could get here. We are both so glad we did.

We woke at 5.30am to be ready for a 6am departure on a boat ride across a tiny corner of the delta. Near the town ...

          Checked out the Onward Transport

In Tulcea, both the train and the bus stations are conveniently located near the boat docks along the Donau. I took some pictures of bus schedules to Bucharest before we taxied the mile or so to Select Hotel. Select Hotel was a great choice.

          The Boys are Back

We barely got settled when the boys showed up. It had been a tough one. Had it not been for a flat Dave ...

... and drinking. It seemed to be the only place in town with signs of life. We were shown to the back, then up a flight of stairs to a hall with 4 rooms and two shower rooms. Our simple bedroom had a sink, a table, an air conditioner and two beds. Ours became the only room occupied that night.

The woman who ran the place didn't know a lick of English, but she had a friend who did. The two women were kind and patient ...
