... very lucky to have plunged our toes in so many different seas. We have splashed in the Atlantic, froliced in the Pacific, dipped our respective toes in all the seas surrounding the UK as well as from various points around the Med. and the Adriatic. We have even waded into the South China Sea and off the Australian coast. But never the Black Sea, not even in our dreams. It was only when planning that we realised we could get here. We are both so glad we did.
August 18 2015 Danube Delta
Once again my previous life, as a Geography teacher, adds layers to my appreciation of the places we find ourselves in. Today it's the Danube Delta that is causing the excitement. To add to it we have had some good times further upstream in Austria and Hungary.

Checked out the Onward Transport
In Tulcea, both the train and the bus stations are conveniently located near the boat docks along the Donau. I took some pictures of bus schedules to Bucharest before we taxied the mile or so to Select Hotel. Select Hotel was a great choice.

... and drinking. It seemed to be the only place in town with signs of life. We were shown to the back, then up a flight of stairs to a hall with 4 rooms and two shower rooms. Our simple bedroom had a sink, a table, an air conditioner and two beds. Ours became the only room occupied that night.
The woman who ran the place didn't know a lick of English, but she had a friend who did. The two women were kind and patient ...
