... their families and friends, many never to be seen again. We left Cobh to make for the Blarney campsite, north of Cork. We took a short ferry trip, en route, which was great fun. However, we then had to negotiate part of Cork, at school finishing time and the start of the rush hour!!! We managed to get to the campsite unscathed thanks to Chris and Doug's navigational skills and with a little help from their satnav Sally, However, the air did get a bit blue at times, ...
... fire. After dinner, wine shepherd's pie and pudding, and feeling rather full, we drove back into Killarney, to Murphy,s pub, where we enjoyed some music. Three musicians, all up for a chat with us as they played guitar, accordion and banjo, Irish flute and irish pipes. John was almost persuaded to get up and have a sing, but he felt he had had one too many Guinness. We were accompanied by Mary O'Donoghue, and her husband Sean....Kathleen's brother. ... near Cork. We arrived just in time to catch a tour. The distillery is really old and the stone buildings are beautiful. The tour takes you through the entire whiskey making process and then they ask for volunteers to be master tasters; Bruce and Lauren were lucky enough to be picked. They got to sample American whiskey, Scotch, and Jameson to make a comparison. While they were doing that the rest of us enjoyed our complimentary glass ...
... a slow stroll back to the ship in time for lunch. We were due to go on an excursion into Cork afterwards, taking in the sights of the city and then finishing off with a visit to the famous Jameson Whiskey distillery, where we would see how Irish whiskey was made and have a chance to sample it afterwards.
After lunch we once again left the Adonia to join our excursion bus with ...

Day 181: Today we took a drive around the Ring of Kerry which is supposed to be one of the best drives in the world and it didn't disappoint. We were't heading anywhere in particular we just drove around and if we saw something we wanted to take pictures of we stopped and just had a good sight seeing day. We left early in the morning and didn't return until after dark so was definitely a good day. ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Cork International Airport Hotel
An amazing hotel
This is a fabulous hotel.Stayed for 1 night in transit.
The room was very comfortable .We had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent. The service was very efficient and friendly.
From a design point of view this is a wonderful place. The fittings are very high quality and very stimulating.I would highly recommend this hotel.
Thank you for taking the time to add your review to the site. We are glad you enjoyed your short stay with us and we hope to welcome you back you soon,
Amazing place for an airport hotel. Had one night here with our two small children and it was worth every penny (c.£100). Don't know if we were upgraded or not but our room was collossal with a tv to match and beautifully appointed. We had to leave at 5am in the morning and so the excellent continental breakfast brough to our room as part of the wake-up call (no extra charge) was very welcome.
We stayed in a family room ("2 double beds) for i night on a park and fly basis. The hotel is very modern and even quite quirky in design. It had only opened the previous month so everything was not quiet up to speed.
Cork international airport hotel
We chose this hotel as it had a special rates offer due to the fact that it is new. It was said to have opened 2 months ago. The staff were receptive, attentive and helpful. The room was well serviced and exceptionally clean. The breakfast menu, on weekdays, had a wonderful spread of both continental and irish foods. At weekends, the choice is slightly limited. The big let-down is the absence of restaurant services on weekends in both luncheon and dinner. Food was available in the bar but they are what one would describe as "junk food" eg hamburgers, chips and sausages. We would not return to this hotel if restaurant catering continues to be "infrequent".
I had forgotten how things can be in a recently-opened hotel.
This place is very nice. VERY quirky design in public areas. Lots of great staff (who aren't suite up to speed yet).
I look forward to returning here in a few months when they have got their ducks in a row.
Knocks the local competition away. Good product & good service (more to follow im sure as they get organised). Free Broadband for computer users is a good plus.
Good luck guys!!!
