    ... The splitting was done by hand, and it was a skill that would have been passed down from father to son. The slate from Welsh quarries was usually expected to last 200 to 300 years before it would need replacing. And it was shipped all over the world, even as far as Australia and Argentina!     A fun weekend in New Quay to end the season. Halloween events on Friday, fireworks on the pier and the urban downhill event.     ... I did plug my shaver into the power strip, knowing that $20 Wal Mart product, in all likelihood, did not have the sophisticated converting hardware included in the Kindles, cell phones, computer and battery chargers. And, with accompanying sparks, ppfffffftttt . . . So I go to the English version of Walgreens and get me a 10 pound, AA battery- powered beard shaver. Problem solved.
