Rounding the turn

We are coming into the last leg of our honeymoon/journey. We arrived at the Coral Suites Hotel last night and found our rooms were very nice. They have their own separate kitchen with fridge, sink, and stove/oven. Since I was really tired I went to take a nap. Randy, Vince and Cindy went up to the top floor to check out the pool. There they met 3 locals. Adam, from the States, is currently in the Peace Corp. Fred, who is orginally from the States, was in the Peace Corp and now works for CB Ri...

Our last day - Boo Hoo :(

Did I mention that sloths only come down to the ground once a week and it is to go to the bathroom. I think it's because they're so darned slow it takes that long to get up and down.
Well that was a Discovery Channel moment wasn't it? Back to the present. When I took my first shower at the Coral Suites there was no hot water. I figured if I can jump into a pool and get used to it I can get into a cold shower. Later when I mentioned the lack of hot water to the front desk she said, "really?...

Paris - Panama

We flew out of Paris (after having great difficulty getting a taxi as there was a public transport strike. We flew via Miami (brief stopover) before flying onto Panama City. Our HC friend met us at the airport and drove us around to a few hotels and hostels before we decided on a hostel that was reasonable and quiet and wasn't a 24 hour 'love' hotel.

Who needs electricity?

... Coconut home run derby." We tossed the coconuts underhanded and swung for the horizon. Pieces of coconut shell exploded everywhere when we made contact, some landing in the water over 100 feet ahead. Our canoe with an afterthought of a motor arrived and rescued us, until the motor died, 4 times. We said our goodbyes when it was time to leave, to the 1 American, 2 Britt's and the other 8 Israeli's that inhabited the Island. For ...

... multiplied until it felt like I was in an outdoor shower... and I was completely drenched within a matter of seconds. And I mean COMPLETELY drenched! At first I started to run... but I soon realized it wouldn't make any difference... I was already soaking head to toe! :) So THIS is why they call it the rainy season!!! Unfortunately my photos from the Canal and the park are history... but I do have a few photos of the city. Thank goodness! :)

Panama City . . . leaving Boquete behind

... to Panama City was an all day affair. It took Michael less time to get to the city from Richmond. All our plans worked out well, and Michael and I met up at La Estancia by about 6:00. This place is a palace compared to my hostal in Boquete, mostly Americans here. It is in a classy section of town called Cerro Anton, which is away from the business district high on a hill overlooking the city, a cab ride away from the downtown area and quiet. There are ...

... every corner perched right on the street, clothes hanging out to dry from the colonial-style balconies, and the graffiti-painted busses that line up in droves at each unmarked bus stop. We had a nice lunch in town, and walked through the market areas. We were warned more than once to be careful, and when I broke out the video camera to catch some shots the policeman told me that it was an invitation to be robbed and recommended I not use it ...
