Long drive to Plovdiv today-4.5 hours. Stopped at Rila Monastery founded in 927. By the fourteenth century it was a very strong feudal power. Today, only ten monks. It reminds me of some of the monasteries in Bhutan. Old Plovdiv: ancient city with narrow streets and very close houses so they could talk from the windows ...

We've had such fantastic and cheap food in all of Romania and Bulgaria and this was definitely one of the best. We all said a big thank you to Andie for her endeavour before heading off to the bus station for our overnight bus trip to Istanbul.

... permanent address. That kinda makes you crazy, I've noticed. He's nice enough but spends most of the day watching YouTube.

I've been all over the central part of this town and I must say I like it a lot. You can't turn around without hitting your head on some Roman ruins. I've seen 3 amphitheaters already. Three! Are you kidding me? One of them is exceptionally well-preserved. Another one has a pedestrian and shopping mall built ...
