Be sure to introduce yourself to restaurant manager Donovan Gordon. Mr. Gordon has become a fixture at this resort for 15+ years, not only a close friend, but a shining example of the caring, friendly nature of the people of Jamaica. Another reason why guests continue to go back to Sandals Montego Bay.

... is way over budget anyway. I only spent $17-1800 for 50 days in the four southernmost South American countries a few months ago. These 60 days will end up at almost three times that, and I'm a frugal muthuh' fuh' yuh', rice cooker and all. Who said that foreign travel is cheap? The initial flight for both these trips was a frequent flyer freebie, as is my next one to Rome; use 'em or lose 'em.
But the antibiotics work and this trip ...
... was when I thought there was a Seinfeld episode that I hadn't seen yet, but it was a false alarm. Jamaica of course is old news in travel and music circles, reggae music pretty much single-handedly spawning the world music industry after Bob Marley's death. Jamaica is now so dependent on tourism that I doubt they could do without it. This spawns a certain dependency, both economic and psychological. Though famous for its 'friendly ...
Montego Bay, Jamaica hardiek... kept me away. Int**estingly they all get their apples from New York. The situation with coffee is similar, plenty of espresso in Barbados but London prices. Trinidad's bett** with its Rituals chain and reasonable prices. Paramaribo in Suriname has got a branch of Rituals also and anoth** espresso joint conveniently located right next door, but that's it. Georgetown, Guyana doesn't even have that. I was reduced to Nescafe th**e, reduced ...
Montego Bay, Jamaica hardiek... at five thousand feet. Funny thing is that by day two or three that's all over and I'm now like part of the landscape, twilight man, homo erectus Montegus, the guy who walks for miles looking for something nous ne savons pas, but never at midday nor midnight. That's me. Roasting buns in the midday sun was never my vice, nor late late nights. Most of the beaches are private, so long walks on the beach are not an option. It's beyond me ...
Montego Bay, Jamaica hardiekWe were supposed to go to Puerto Limon, Costa Rica on the 24th but as we approached, the authorities closed the harbor due to severe weather and mudslides so we left the area. Later that day Capt. Thor told us that we were headed to Montego Bay. I'd been there before in the 1980s and swore I'd never go back (at that time there was a Marxist Michael Manley in charge and the US was not looked on with favor). Anyway we had to go back and once there, again I swore I'd never go back ...
Montego Bay, Jamaica k6eid... after that. The flight on Air Jamaica was good despite the fact that my children were driving me insane and my husband decided to give up calming them down after about 1.5 hr into the flight and left all the work to me (typical men). We arrived in Jamaica about 11am and was thrilled when there was hardly any lines at immigrations (word of advise - take a morning flight, less persons at the airport and more time ...
Montego Bay, Jamaica iriegirl... cant forget the fact that I grabbed the wrong set of slippers and had to come all the way back to the pool and struggling to keep my stomach muscles from hurting coz we were laughing so hard....it was all fun..... Dinner was great that night, room service that is...hahahaha....we decided to be anti social that night....(these Jamaican rice and peas is starting to grow on me...I thoroughly enjoyed that)...Day after, it was D day - Syntra's bday that is....we decided to go ...
Montego Bay, Jamaica longie... would still require some rest, and that a beach holiday shouldn't aggravate it. We stayed about halfway down Montego Bay's 'Hip Strip', which contained a few overpriced eateries, and a terrific fast-food style jerk speciality place called the 'Pork Pit'. Downtown Montego Bay is best avoided at all costs any time after 6 pm at night, for safety reasons alone, but it was pleasant enough to stroll around the city area in the daytime ...
Montego Bay, Jamaica jollyjetsetter... for the night. Crazy. Saturday: The MoBay group traveled to Mountpelier to visit another new Vol. Her house is nice, but the view she has is AWESOME! Even though her house is only 20-30 minutes outside of MoBay it's like another country. She lives on the border of a government nature preserve so her entire view is mile after mile of rolling country-side. Awesome! We all spent the night with her, and took a walk around the darkened country to view the stars ...
