... you hear is crushing fibreglass. Did I mention that our tender boats are made of fibreglass? You could hear the attendants speaking in excited Greek tones (part of me wishing I knew Greek) as they tried to get us under control. Another wave and another crash into the side of the ‘dock’. More crushing fibreglass. I’m starting to think how I get off this tender without getting my camera’s wet. Finally after 10 ...

The story begins with a dream

... biggest reasons is that the house is so welcoming and relaxing that it would be a shame for it to be sitting unused when we are not there. There is so much to enjoy in the Northside of the Island, (it is so much better than 7 mile beach)! The beach is totally private and secluded, you actually are have it all to yourself!. There are great snorkel reefs right in front of the villa that must ...

Not to be....

Zach and I got the opportunity to see the very local-inhabited section of Grand Cayman Island known as West Bay this past May, 2009. For two years in a row now I have been interested in working with a private Christan school there as an Elementary teacher. In 2008 I turned the offer down because I met, fell in love with, and married my favorite person Zach.

I still felt a pull to this position and when the time came to put in for this years open ...

Magic & Mystery in the Cayman Islands

... actually looking at but I guess the point is that everyone has to start somewhere and there are many different styles and tastes out there and they don't necessarily have to make sense to us. Needless to say it was very hard to leave not just because we were spoilt rotten over the past week but also so say goodbye to our dear friends. Nick, Avril and Dan went out of their way to make the visit special and memorable for us and we truly enjoyed every minute of our ...

... be told you can't come in, even if there is nowhere nearby to head towards. In Marina Hemingway there were the Blue Meanies everywhere. That is, guards dressed in blue with their radios bleeping at all hours (Adrian does a great imitation of the radio sound - it is something like a turkey's gobble). You would be strolling along the dock and out they would pop out from nowhere or maybe from behind some bushes. Foraging for food - Everyday Dana goes out and tries to bring back ...

Caribbean Cruise

Port 3 was George Town Grand Caymen. I got to experience the whole tender process, which was a water taxi to get the passengers from the ship to the shore, since we could not dock. It was a boat that could haul about 100 people at a time. Very, very glad I remembered to take my dramamine that day. It's crazy how many cruise ships were there that day - must have ...

A little caribbean adventure

... striking. After lunch, we headed to 7 mile beach (actually 5.5 miles) and had a nice swim outside Governer´s House. Chris and Ben left the girls later on to sort the food and headed back to Eden Rock for a night dive with Ben´s mate Brian - the place was totally different, as the night-time fish come out to play. We spotted lobsters, squid, an octopus and a beautiful (living) conch - made a change to see it in the water as opposed to in a shop. A wonderful end to ...

... of the passengers didn't even make it on board good before the captain was off again. We took another 15 minute boat ride to a small coral reef where they let us snorkel. I eagerly jumped in the water and was amazed at everything I saw. There were fish of every shape, size and color. The reef was beautiful and had any number of things living on it. There were crabs and fish and plants and ...
