while about 200 years ago the Satsuma Clan jung students embarked on a Journey to Great Britain for them it was an Eye opener which transformed Japan to the Western Civilizations. However today that spirit is somewhat missing mainly in the Language speaking department. The Museum while nice and well presented is lacking basics. The Audio Guided Tour did not work.... No Wifi in the Museum otherwise google would have provided that Service....no English speaking Tour ...

... picked up. I didn't know who was going to be there. I thought it was likely going to be Hiroko-san only but all three of them were there!!! Hiroko-san, my father and my sister, Miki!!!! It was such a wonderful surprise and they all met the big Gaijin (foreigner) Brian.

From the very beginning they made us feel so welcome. I had mentioned that Brian really liked soba and they took us to the restaurant where they make the soba on site. ...

... means there is less than 2 knots of wind. Oh well, it was a beautiful day in a very interesting place nonetheless.

With a bit more hiking and eventually a cab ride, we made it back to our hotel and got cleaned up (I was covered with something that looks and feels like volcanic ash). It didn't take us long to agree on what we were going to eat tonight. Tonkatsu and Shabu-Shabu are the specialties of the region. The where was up for debate with Erika wanting to walk 2.4km to a ...
