Making progress

Nothing very exciting today. I went down to the TEFL school to get some ideas on teaching opportunities. They said they could give me some days writing curriculum for and teaching a 1-2 day English camp in Rayong as a start which I filed as a maybe. The PR type guy interviewed me (he used to do PR for Barnaman Bailey circus) as he wanted to get some press on former students for promotional purposes. All very nice people.

Ji and I and one ...

... it with all these little presents from toiletries to clothes that she had brought for me from Germany. So here I am getting my strength back, and having the most lovely relaxing time, with the love of family around me. Interestingly I was here at this resort having dinner two years ago just before I came home, I sat on the peer having the most amazing dinner with my friend Claudia and two other girls, reminiscing about our time. I looked at the room I am staying in now, and dreamt of ...

These islands are beautiful!!!

This Island is beautiful, unfortunately it is full of thieving @*#^^?!! and we have had our second camera stolen. It looks like you will all be spared from the video of Victoria singing Sweet Child o' Mine with a Thai rock band, honestly though she was pretty Awesome!! Thieves are pretty stupid here tho as they left our wallet and mobile phone in the leather bag, and didn't even take the bag!?! Confusing hey!! Apart from all of that its quite nice here :)

... travel partner, goodbyes are far easier as you know you'll always have your buddy there. When you're alone, you're chummy chummy one minute and literally by yourself for the foreseeable future the next. Also definitely been feeling closer to people I meet and getting more attached when I've been going solo. Met Jay again for a quick dinner. Gave him some brotherly advice on life. Said goodbye and I was on my own again properly for the first time in ages. Next stop, Nepal!

'Way down to Kokomo' la la - Ko Samui

... price and about 100 times better tasting. Ko Samui has 6 main beaches to choose from, we picked Hat Chaweng. Our second choice would have been Hat Bo Phut. We took a scooter over to Hat Bo Phut and the fishermen's village there; is definitely worth exploring (we ran out on time so didn't stop -unfortunately!) With our hired scooter, we rode around Ko Samui to look at the main sights (using a map from the hotel). We found the big Buddha beach and ...

... very tentatively diped a toe in the sea, just to see what the water was like. It was a source of great amusement to me for a good half hour that the water was actually warm. Warm I tell you! As I was off the beer there was little else to do other than go to bed in my wooden hut. I was asleep by 11 and managed my first full nights sleep since last Wednesday waking at 6:30am. A pack of howling dogs at my door did their best to keep me awake at 3am, but I managed to drift back ...

... wind up at a beach front restaurant/bar and order the barracuda, which is served very similarly to a shark steak, except is a bit more tender. I sit and enjoy a beer after dinner and get ready to get a good night of sleep while watching one of the few dvds I had purchased previously (at $3 a pop). Just as I´m standing up to leave, the waitress brings me another ...

Next stop - Ko Samet island

... ride though, better than a roller coaster;-) First stop was some snorkelling (yes I finally did it, and overcame my fear of swimming in 'deep' water coz of sharks!!! - NB. First I asked as many Thai people prior to the journey about whether there are 'sharks in water' most all laughed and replied 'no shark', I even did a little research on the net the night before ;-) Haha... The snorkelling was not exactly Great Barrier Reef material but it was nevertheless a ...

On my own

... I also did not get offered any kind of job on the spot as most people do. I t is also hard for an employer to get a hold of me cause I have no cell phone or a current address. Most places want you to sign a one year contract and I do not want to be here that long. Monday I was pretty much trying to stay positive but at the same time I could feel the tears in my eyes starting to fall several times that day. I did my best to keep them and myself under control ...

Christmas Thai Style

... cracker, cheese, and fruit. The whole day was spent out on the sand soaking up the wintertime sun. I found out that I am an expert crab catcher while Mike re-discovered photography. One of our classmates, Gordon, had flown his family from the UK to be with him during the holidays. His son Alec was a complete charmer. We had a sand castle competition between ...
