... I am unable to comment on the quality of the sushi itself because the whole experience was completely soured by the offensive and obnoxious host/owner, a Scot called Alan. Honestly, this man needs a crash course in customer service - he is downright rude, and unless somebody can give me a very, very good reason to make a return visit, I shall not! It's a real shame because I believe he could have made a really good go of it.
Belle Vue, Virgin Islands, British mcprawnusElm Villa, Tortola, BVI – This place is a find.

My family and I rented Elm Villa for a week this summer and loved it. We give it top marks all around. This villa is not your typical rental property. It is clearly a second home, which the owners rent out part of the year.

In residence at the villa is a full time housekeeper, Mariel, who lives in a separate basement apartment. Mariel makes a big difference to ...
Cane Garden Bay, Virgin Islands British jhtradewayDear Blog,

Here we are today at St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. The ship made its way into port at 7:00am this morning under beautiful tropical weather.

Today, I was supposed to experience the best of St. Thomas on a scenic drive combined with a beach, historical and shopping excursion. However, since I woke up this morning with a terrible motion sickness feeling and that I felt quite dizzy, I just couldn't go. Instead, I paid a visit ...
St. Thomas, Virgin Islands US momentsintime... our anticipation was rising. We enjoyed every minute of it, walking at a fast speed being anxious to arrive. It took a good 10 minutes.

When we finally reached the end of the trail and stepped out of the woods, an unimaginable view was opening up in front of us. A spectacular white sandy beach with turquoise clear water surrounded by these big huge greyish boulders, all naturally packed together with secluded passages, it was ...
Tortola, Virgin Islands British momentsintimeDear Blog,

During the night, the Caribbean Princess made its way towards the island of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands arriving this morning at 8:00am. We witnessed, from the ship's top deck, the sunrise which was spectacular.

Today promises be an exciting day as the sun is bright, the sky is blue, the breeze is warm and everything is fantastic. Having had an early breakfast, we were ...
St. Thomas, Virgin Islands US momentsintime... provisions that were left by the charter company. We put every thing away in the storage compartments and went to sleep. The next day we were briefed by the charter company and we became familiar with the idiosyncrasies of our home for the week, a 37-ft C&C sloop. We soon found ourselves sailing in paradise towards Norman's Island. The mountains rose from the sea and we were entranced with the scenery. The weather was clear and the wind was moderate as we ...
Road Town, Tortola, Virgin Islands British capchas... by the end of the race, especially since we lost by a nose (or bow, if you like). It was still amazing fun, better than any roller coaster I've ever been on because we weren't strapped in. And when the wind caught us in a turn the boat would roll to at least 45 degrees and all I had to hang on to was a little red rope. I bought a picture in the gift shop afterwards so I'll try and scan it so you folks can see me in action.
St. Maarten, French Southern Terr. springac... s for coffee; got bagels for the kids. On-time to Chicago, and, despite the potential for very horrid weather, had no delays. In fact, it was cold and rainy (not snowy) in Chicago; gives one a sense of escaping to a tropical paradise.

Arrived San Juan on time -- but lots of others were delayed for various reasons. (For example, they asked us all to stay seated until a couple rushed off to catch their cruise ship.) Checked into our hotel at the airport, then went downstairs ...
Road Town, Tortola, Virgin Islands British stupidbunny... was going to explode. :) Anyway, after the flights, we ended up on Beef Island and after clearing customs in a tiny little airport we took a minivan/taxi that had been arranged by the Moorings Yacht Club (where our sailboat was waiting). The drivers there, including our taxi driver, tend to drive down the middle of the road until they see someone else coming along and then they switch over to their lane at the last minute ...
