Great views across Haad Salad Bay, large room and bathroom, lovely bigwindows so as you wake up the view is spectacular and great balcony with hammok. Food is good and reasonable price and resort is quiet with some cheap food outlets and beach bars.

    Tanote snorkelling paladie

A travel blog entry by lukeandsarah on Aug 09, 2014

    9th August Saturday

Luke slept in private beachside villa in Ao Mae Hat while Sarah snorked on her own. She says it was pretty good but a bit scary.

Zero energy but still managed to drag down the beach, have some breakfast, and get a cab. Why so low on energy? Probably a combination of heat, humidity and not eating enough.

Didn;t even know where we were going when we found the cabbie. Price fro Thong Nai Pan was 1,500, so settled on Thong Sala ...

... market was next on the agenda, this place was insane, it must have covered miles, little winding streets and alleys lined with market stools and shops- it had everything! But the heat got the better of us so we relocated to the MBK shopping centre, air con and as many fake items as you could lay your hands on. That evening we joined a few people from our tour group for a yummy farewell meal at a restaurant called Cabbages and Condoms; sounds strange but its a fab restaurant! Next up ...

... before grabbing your snorkels or diving gear for a morning session, then after lunch, laze on the beach, take a boat trip around the island, go for a walk at sunset, shop for some souvenirs, have a massage, and dine in style again with a million dollar view, all for MUCH less than it would cost in Europe, Australia even the Caribbean's. Iuri has probably told me 25 times that he wants to come back here in the future.

... 8211; not a good idea. At Sairee Beach, and after feeling very frustrated, I jumped in a taxi and overpaid for my ride back to Chalok Bay, but was just happy to get back to the hotel in one piece. The irony of life then kicked in and I tried the charger one more time. Because the battery was completely dead, a red light came on and the battery charged! So very tired after my walk, but happy again...

... we descended to 18 meters underwater and did some more exercises together. For our last dive we went again to Pottery and this time swam around a lot and even filmed a video. We even got to do a Harlem shake underwater! Once back, we had the final quiz which we all passed. We spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing, planning the next days and booking stuff for the trip. At 6:00 pm we met with the group to watch the video and celebrate. Unfortunately it cost $75 so we decided to ...
