Yes, we struggled with a bad pun headline for this entry, but thanks must go to Kurt Russell, and his 1986 film, for eventually providing us with inspiration. We had been working on something referencing a 1975 Barry White song, “You See The Truffle With Me”, but couldn’t work the place name in. Still, we got there in the end, thanks Kurt.

The strategic, hill top town of San Miniato, sits more or less equidistant between Pisa and Florence, and ...

... as we can explain that we are staying with her and she kept us chatting, and indeed the restaurateurs at Le Barrique seem to understand when I offer this explanation. However it was never going to be a problem — after apologetically turning us away on Saturday night because they were full, tonight we are their only customers! ... I'm after a card wallet but they didn't seem to have what I wanted in their ranges. Beautiful leather jackets - girls you HAVE to get over here! The bags and gloves and other stuff are beautiful.

Cooling off before we scrub up for tea I checked up on mail, Facebook and thought I'd set down some thoughts here. A couple of contacts from the kids have me feeling sentimental.

    Time to organise some photos!

    Day 13: Florence

... this happens we dive for wifi cafes at mealtimes. I ordered pesto gnocchi and the girls ordered a tomato gnocchi. Mine tasted terrible. Incredibly salty. I couldn't get through half of it. The tomato one was apparently good though. Knew I should have gone with the same thing as them! To make the most of the free wifi at the restaurant I called mum and dad to chat for a bit before the meal came out. That made me feel a bit better and the food helped wake me ...
