Ahhh... My Birthday! Today I woke up with Caz jumping on me ad smothering me with kisses. What a great start to the day. Though it was a tad freaky when she told me that she had been watching me sleep, waiting for me to wake up for a while. Haha, just kidding Caz!! Last night we stayed at a really cool hostel, it was very modern and had great rooms. We stayed in a room with only 4 beds in it, it had free internet, breakfast and the rooms were huge. Last night we met up with one of Cazza's mat...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands kbcon2We got up early this morning, especially to the mornings that we are used to having, and went down and took full advantage of the free breakfast. There was an array of cereals to choose from (hello!) and I had some of the coco pops impersonators, cornflakes and muesli. There was this ****** orange juice and 3 other different kinds of juices that ALL tasted exactly the same and that taste was just flavoured water. Grose. But the breakfast was quite extravagant. I think im just easy to please t...

... with a hood with fur on it, and it zips up. It has several pockets. It's already starting to get cold in Madrid. Low 70's. Still warm, but when I arrived, it was in the mid 80s.

I should be getting my laptop in a few weeks. It has a webcam on it, so I will be able to talk to other people with a webcam for free, and I call friends and family on the phone for about 2 cents/minute, so I am going to call Grandmom when I get it.
Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands morada2007... We will share a drink..probably have to introduce ourselves, find out what is in store for tomorrow...already know we have a 6:45AM wake up call (joy) and gong to Toledo and staying in the city of Salemanca. After the drink going out to eat..let's see what trouble this monolingual duo can get in at the restaurant. Adios!
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands donwen... to ring the doorbell in the wee hours of the morning and that was the last thing I wanted to for the family and a dog who barks like a yelping Dachshund. I woke up Saturday not wanting to break the lost-key news to Maruja. However, I got the courage to tell her, but she assured me it wasn't a big deal and handed me another set of keys. After that, we ate a delicious lunch of Lentils with Rice (and bread) and 2 pieces of lomo (different but delicious part of the pig) and ...
Madrid, Spain jakester21... the edge of it. It was so cool, I wish we could have taken pictures. I can´t wait to get home...I want to see if I can recreate any of the pictures that I saw. After that, and lunch, we took a walking tour around the city with our favorite guide so far, Édu. He was so nice, and only stopped and talked for about 5 minutes in each place which was good because that way we didn´t have time to get bored and REALLY bored and stop paying attention. Yay for Finally having an ...
Madrid, Spain boldtel... has been to many European capitals, but nothing prepared me for this. I had felt in parts of India and North Korea that I wanted to pick people up and take them to Sydney for a few days to show people an aspirational way of life without all the ****. I would now forgive a Spanish visitor for saying the same thing to me. Its not just the buildings, the blue sky, the sprawling El Retiro park, the impeccably clean streets (we see about 10 street ...
Madrid, Spain claude_and_iain... the locker. Pretty neat. Also, the cleaning staff is very diligent, scrubbing everything down every day, even mopping the floors of the rooms. My only complaint was that of my three showers there, two weren't even luke warm. Oh, and the bottom bunks are incredibly low to the point that I couldn't even sit while slouching. But that's it. Great place, worth the 18 Euros. After settling in Friday I looked on the map and realized that the Museo del Prado, one of the must sees in ...
Madrid, Spain monkeyduck...
Madrid, Spain olesja... photo album)) and Barcelonas most famous landmark - La Sagrada Familia - a massive church commenced in 1882 and is not yet half finished. We were able to climb several of the towers to a height of about 70m (they are about 100m high) and got some awesome views of the city. Leah commented that it was amazing being at a place which commenced before we were born and is highly likely not to be finished in our life time. Probably a fair call. After Barcelona it was a short hop to ...
