Today was a rest day. MAfter a late breakfast at 9:30 we organised ourselves and decided to go to the next village for a look around. We took the ferry to Cernobbio via Torno so zigged across the lake then back again towards Como. As with anywhere on the lake, it was once again, very picturesque. As we alit, we noticed that there was a market in progress. What luck! It sounded a bit like Victoria Market of old with all the fresh fruit ...

... just used a crane from over the wall of the arena to lift it. I was lucky enough and could afford a "real seat" as opposed to the hundreds that sat on the stone steps like they did in Roman times. The acoustics were also amazing. We made it to Act II, Scene 3 before the skies opened again and the conductor rushed his orchestra away to save the valuable instruments. Up early, had breakfast and met our tour guide at about 9am. It was raining so we took a brolley each and opted for raincoats. We had a quick chat about where we would go and fortunately what the guide suggested was what we wanted to do. So we were driven to the old town of Como first - about 15 minutes away by car. The old part of the city is walled on three sides as the people of Milan and Como were not keen on each other. Of course the unwalled side of the city is the lake. ...
