... whilst reading my book, Oli was in charge of steering and I think we probably just went around in circles for half an hour.
On Monday after school, we went to the next lake along, Lake Maggiore which was about a 30 minute drive and looked equally impressive as this lake. We got a cable car up about 1000m in height up a mountain, then got on a chairlift to a stunning view in 360deg of lakes and mountains. Unfortunately we have had to ditch the shorts and ...

The highlight was climbing to the top of the church. We climbed well over 100 steps to the rooftop. From there we could get a close up view of the Gothic architecture, buttresses, arches and statues and the city below.
A city guide joined us in the afternoon for our trip to see the Last Supper by Leonardo Di Vinci. Tickets to see the painting need to be ordered in advance. Only small groups ...

I know it was just planted here for the warm months, but seeing a banana tree in someone's yard just feels really unappropriate. C'mon folks, this is the ...

... anyway to get up there... Gordona has a very different feel to any other town I've been in. Why? Well, it's a fairly large, urbanized town, but at half the buildings are look like old, stone and timber barns! It gives it a rugged farmer feel--I guess here at the end of the day people would just bring their animals into town to keep in their barns. Kind of a cozy feel. Some of the barns are in disrepair--but you can still see that a lot of love went into building ...

Day 273 5 hrs, 10.4 kms Day Totals: 16 hrs, 37.4 kms I take a little detour to snag one more town today. As I wander through this frazione of Samolaco, a husky older gentleman greets me from outside his barn, my third interesting encounter of the day. He tells me about his life... growing up in the mountains here, spending much of his life out in the plains working, and now coming back to his home village. I guess that's the reality of these ...
