... and walk almost everywhere in town. Kaye brought her suitcase with her as she was leaving on the Tuesday and with the car being out of action we thought it would be safer for her to be in town in order to catch the train. We chose this place more or less by accident. We had a few days to kill between ending our cruise in Venice and catching a plane in Zurich, and had heard the Italian lakes district is worth seeing. ... leaving and we are on the wrong side of the tracks, next train in 90 minutes. Can you call a taxi - yes, but it is a busy time in Bellamo and it will be a 90 minute wait (there is only one taxi in Bellamo). Can we catch a ferry or hire a boat, maybe but it is a 500 metre walk to the ferry station. Slept better last night. We got up around 8ish, didn't bother with breakfast and headed out to explore.

We walked up the first set of stairs from the street, which inevitably led to someone’s home. But we kept doing this all through Fiumelatte. The streets are steep lined with large pebbles cemented into the paths/steps. Makes you wonder how the elderly get around.
