Hotel was right across the road from the main train station. Very clean and rooms were great. It wouldn't hurt the staff to smile but other than that a convenient and comfortable stay

The Road Trip... 5 countries in a Ford

... 30 that night. Luckily the local pub was still open for dinner.

Friday also brought bad weather. So we went to Salzburg, where we visited the castle. To get to the castle we rode the (very steep) furnicular up the hill. The castle was fun, and the museum nice. Then we walked through the touristy centre which was way too pricey for us to eat or drink in so we returned to the car and tried to find somewhere cheaper. This lead us to get ...

... as their is a corresponding increase in car traffic on that day due to family outings. So there were just hundreds of these trucks parked with their drivers sitting out in front of the cabs with their lawn chairs and grills. Just seemed weird.

On the trip we decided that since driving the motorway wasn't going to be very enjoyable from a sightseeing perspective, we'd be better ...

... pleased. Down to the pier (600 metres long floating pier, apparently a big deal) It rises and falls 12meters with the tide. It seems that all canal tours are only in German. They don't seem to be very interested in catering for foreign tourist. They don't have recorded head phones. All you get is a shrug when asked why. One boat promised English, a Mississippi paddleboat, for heaven’s sake! So we took a seat on the top deck, ordered drinks and waited. To give the guy ...

... like us. The coolest part of the train was when we crossed form Denmark to Germany, the train rolled right onto the bottom of a giant ferry boat and we crossed the Baltic Sea!! That was so awesome, who would've thought a train could go on a ferry boat. We arrive in Hamburg, Germany at their huge central station and it is such a big difference from Copenhagen. You can already get the vibe that it is more crowded and dirty. So we immediately get ...

Lufthansa technic

Went to see where they repair. Lufthansa and customer plans. Couldn't take pictures inside, but neat facility. Got up close to 747 being overhauled. Saw two 747 for a middle Easter rich guy, being outfitted. In all a cost of about a billion dollars. Enjoyed some free time in Hamburg Olster Lake. Rode on a solar powered ...
