... thanks Vicks for the tip) and it even had swimmers in the waves albeit in wetsuits! We eventually arrived at our campsite about 6pm. We were staying at Skrea campsite which is just near Falkenberg, about half way up to the Bohuslan coast. We set Madam up and had a quick look at the beach whilst the sun was out and lovely. There are about 1600 bathing huts located behind the beach, which have been there in one form or another since the 1900's. Kind of like ...
Falkenberg, Halland County, Sweden wizalllThe weekend has been so relaxing! It's my first time to go to a Spa-hotel and I thought it was liberating to be able to go around wearing robes ;) massage, gym, sauna+freezing cold ocean+hot tub, swimming pool and the food was delish... I really have no complains at all!
... the first day we had to eat musili for breakfast. YUCK!! We only canoed for the last half of the day because we spent the first half of the day making sure that we all had the right equipment - didn't stop the guys leaving two stoves in the mini bus. The boat was so full of all our stuff. We were in pairs (I was with Kat) and we had one drysack each, a food bag (the same size as our tent) between us and a tent between us. Not to ...
Fagen Lakes near Gothenburg, Sweden capricorn101... and generally relaxed as hell. Fantastic. We'll stay here until Saturday when we take an overnight train to Berlin. Of course some of you will immediately recognise that Halmstad is the home town of everyone's favourite Swedish pop band, Roxette. It's surrounded by beautiful forests and coastline, all of which we've been chauffured, chauffeured, driven around to see. None of this, of course, makes for an interesting blog entry.
Halmstad, Sweden dconlisk... snce it was the day that school ended and there were lots of young people celebrating. We eventually found our way to the ferry and all four us piled into this small room, the size of a train Pullman. Then we headed for the sundeck and had a grand ole time with our drinks as we saw Stockholm disappear as we proceeded through this maze of islands. . We had a feast for supper (2nd seating) and it ...
STOCKHOLM, Sweden jrgo... Sometimes even finding the fallen trees can be an adventure. But the snow makes the job feel more genuine and I'm glad it's finally there. Now I feel I've earned some bragging rights. We had a new development in the case of the stolen car. It was recovered, undamaged and returned to us. We had to drive an hour North to get it, but it was fine. Some ...
Hyltebruk, Sweden yehaww... the keys were in the ignition. We're out in the middle of nowhere. I think 5 cars drove by us the whole day. Luckily not too much was in the car, equipment wise. Just some tools and some of our clothing. The police don't seem to think there's much chance of recovery. I'm not sure what's going to happen. I'm having trouble uploading pictures, I'll get some up when I get it figured out. Everything on this computer is in Swedish.....
Hytlebruk, Sweden yehaww... and my nose blue from its effects. The old lady "overhauled" my great-coat, tightened the buttons with a needle and thread, and put me in sailing trim for the morning. The evening being by this time far advanced, we retired to rest. Now a Swedish bed-room is not like in English one; and as the one of which my friend Schonbeck was about to share with me was a very good specimen, I will try to describe it. In the first place, instead of having passages to communicate ...
Angelholm, Sweden travellerbruceWell it's saturday so I've been enjoying swedish life since tuesday! It's sooo relaxed here! Seeing stu and maria is fantastic! We're staying in marias grandads beach house and taking things pretty easy most of the time! Have taken a boat trip to an island and learnt lots about Tycho Brahe (astronomer extraordaineer!) been walking and looked at boats and today went to a wildlife park (photos to follow)! We spent last night ...
Alstop, Sweden jenmilburn... bar of our hotel, so we cracked a few gins for the road. Saturday I woke up freaking! I didn't have a thing to wear for the wedding!!! I dragged David into Helsingborg to search for something, anything! There was nothing really, so I bought a top and we went back. We got ready quickly as our hotel was the meeting point and everyone was turned up for pre-wedding drinks. Soon it was time to head to the church. We took our places with the priest's back to us. When Karin and Tadek ...
