    So, after all the waiting we did, we are actually in Germany! The plane wasn't very comfortable, and a couple of us were forced into seats that didn't recline (making sleeping hard, painful work) but we didn't crash and burn, so thats a plus! But anyway, we're in Germany now! A new country and continent! This is really cool for those of us who have never been out of the country before! Well, I guess that's all that has happened so far.     Yes! So magically, the flight managed to squeeze in over THIRTY extra people including us! It was supposed to leave at 2am, but it left around 4. There were even empty seats so that we could move and lay down/stretch out! Very nice.

    ... beautiful as before.
    Everybody was doing very well and were strong and trim. Werner had lost 22 kilo and looked great. He is exercising at Fit and Fun and taking rehab several times per week.
    Also visited with Molly Morse and the children. Madison just graduated from h.s. with honors and with a great running season behind her. She was highly recruited and had lots of options but the U. of Florida will get her. She is excited to get going. Hazen ...

    ... have strange ideas. But only now I bought some, and I only did because there are on the packing list of the travel company and I didn't want to stand out there as the one without them. So yesterday my try-and-error attempt to walk with trekking poles, and on sloppy paths they really help. If I only had known.     We set off at 7.45 after a cup of tea! It was cooler this morning and just nice.

    Our first lock was strange. There was a huge weir on the left and we could see the lock gates on the right BUT it had two green buoys more or less across the entrance PLUS there was a "no entry" sign AND a “go to the right arrow”. We were so intent on working it out we forgot to take a photo. There were no lights to help us either. ...
