... 15 minutes away. Taxis were expensive so we opted for the $2 city bus that was convenient and went well. Not much to do there but they have an impressive cathedral and attached museum – the cathedral took over 300 years to complete so compared to that, Sagrada Familia isn't doing too badly.
After walking around the town a little – we passed on the Mallorcan royal palace, preferring instead to have a ...
And at long last we are on our way ... can't quite believe we are actually starting this journey after all the work, planning, talking .... And we know we've been to San Telmo many times before but this time it is different!! And so good to have Simon's old friends Max & Linsey onboard - after all they were really the people responsible for him ending up in Port d'Andratx to begin with.
St Elm, Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain sharkitaWe arrived in Cala de Calobra around 5:30. We anchored in the small bay and took a tender to shore. The little village has a small pier along one side of a steep hill and the village is crowded on the hillside raising between two much larger and steeper hills. The whole thing looks like some Hollywood set because of its idyllic setting on the small bay. There are several bars and restaurants where we got drinks and ate an early dinner.
sa Calobra, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourney... away from the small coastal town of Colònia de Sant Jordi. This beach was rated the second best bare beach in the world and I can see why. Only six of us could go to the beach since the yacht would continue on towards Minorca and we would have to return on the heli. I didn’t even think we would have six people since no one had fully recovered from last night. We took a tender to shore where the crew ...
Colònia de Sant Jordi, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourney... from Germany. Good music, dancing starts up. We leave at 1:30 to catch the last bus. I am relying on my roommate who is totally confident about the schedule. Well, we wait with others but find out the last bus left awhile back. We need to find a cab which is difficult since everyone is trying to get to a bar/club somewhere. We finally get one. A late night by my standards but just starting to get going. My back could not take any more.
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands will.traveller... afternoon at the beach back in Playa de Palma. It is so nice to have warm weather with sun. Quite a contrast from Scandinavia. This is an area full of German tourists. Mostly Spring break atmosphere. Apparently it is dominated by package deals. I have seen very few other nationalities here. As an indication, at the airport, Air Berlin dominated the airlines (even though this is Spain it is not Iberia or SpanAir).
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands will.traveller... day, I have the same problem. The simple reboot does not work. After giving it a day of recovery, using the AC charger, it starts up. I really thought it was gone and it still may go at any time. I go through everything I can think of on diagnostics, reinstalling software … It behaves from now.
I arrive in Mallorca without a hotel reservation. I have been unable to locate any hostels. Some availability of high-priced hotels in an emergency. In much of Europe, there ...
... a pretty sight). On my visits I try to stay in a central location so this time I tried the Nixe Palace in Cala Major. This is a small sandy bay just outside the city of Palma which is easily accessible by taxi and bus. The hotel itself has a fine position ...
Palma, Spain paulatluxuryJune 7 to 13, a very brief but awesome holiday with Claire. We were staying at Claire's aunt's ten minutes outside Palma de Majorca, up the hills and in the middle of the middle of the forest. It was so beautiful and quiet, and we even had our own separate casita with bathroom, kitchenette and lounge area. Oh, and a hammock with pool view! It really was paradise. Fi (Claire's aunt) and her family were great with us and I feel we ...
Palma, Spain dani.bora... made with care and thought. The town is very clean and the buildings seem new although I think that is yet another illusion. Perhaps compared to large cities like Barcelona and Madrid, they are fresher due to the lack of pollution.I glanced up at the tall leafy trees and down at the flower stalls that dotted the boardwalk. They come in every type and color craftily arranged into stunning bouquets ranging from 5-20E. A man walking by asked for directions upon finding out I spoke ...
