... Expensive at 70€ with a bottle of red but great food. Porcini funghi pasta and fish in a strong tomato and olive sauce finished with a creme brûlée - best meal yet. Rain all night and predicted to get worse and stay for few days so no point staying here, nothing to do in the rain. Prefer to spend wet day in train and come back when it's fine. Bought the last copy of a walk description book in village- lots great looking walks- some quite easy and some up ...

As usual Rhid and myself stay up too late playing loud music and generally behaving like the idiots we are. Tomorrow we're off for some fun and frolics by the seaside in Lerici.

      Day 244
      4 hrs, 4.8 kms

There are just a couple more provinces in Lombardia region that I need to visit. Cremona is one of them.

All the large cities in the northern plains of Italy are beautiful--but after a while it's a little hard telling them apart. Hopefully I'll be able to discover something unique about Cremona.

That's not hard at all. Cremona has a very distinct claim to fame: it perhaps Italy's most musical city. And you ...

Day 244 4 hrs, 7.4 kms I continue on down the tracks, hopping off in Piadena to get a feel for a third town in Cremona Province. Piadena has two long streets lined with buildings forming a single wall, interrupted by an occasional large gateway leading to a family compound--a style became very familiar with in the Napoli region down south. Kind of a very quick tour of Cremona Province... but I decide to go ahead and continue on to the next ...
