We made it!!! After a 14.5 hour flight, three meals and many bathroom breaks we deplaned and cleared customs. We exchanged some USD to Japanese Yen in the airport then caught a 1.5 hour bus ride directly to Conrad Tokyo. The hotel is beautiful! We were upgraded to an executive room where our toilet has a seat heater, the shower has 2 heads and everything in the room, even the blinds work off switches on the wall. Our executive lounge has complimentary drinks and appetizers nightly with breakf...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan 2knightsabroadIt's 8 am here and we've been up for 3.5 hours already. The fish market is about a 15 minute walk from our hotel. This morning it was a brisk wet walk. It's not really raining but just very moist air. The fish market was all we expected and more! We walked right into the main entrance through a variety of wholesale stalls and into the tuna auction warehouse. The sizes of the tuna varied from small to massive, both blue fin and yellow fin. All the fish had their tails cut off and stuck in the ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan 2knightsabroadAfter the fish market we came back to the hotel for a little while then went to the Imperial Palace. Although you cannot go past the rock wall we walked all around and took some pictures. We saw the gate and the famous bridge. Around noon it was starting to get hot so we found a vending machine in the subway station with ice cream cones (they are everywhere). After the Palace we went to the Asakusa Kannon Temple. There was a large crowd of people here to see and worship. We stopped in the mar...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan 2knightsabroadArrived to the airport at 1:30, the flight was delayed(supposed to arrive at 1' o clock)... The airport's name is SkyWest Airport. Dying of hunger and a place to rest, $9,050 Dolla Bills in my hand(flight cost $950, Delta Airlines). It's a good thing they accept American money here. Some Japanese guy was asking me something, I unfortunately did not know what he was saying, so I just pointed to the bathroom place (I think he was aking me where the bathroom was). Took a cab to my hotel, conveni...
Tokyo, Japan, Japan frankysandovalWhat a day, I'm starting to dig Tokyo rap music. This place is nothing as shown in the movie The Fast and The Furious Tokyo Drift. I have not seen one race car! Oh well it's ok I'll just keep an eye out. Ate breakfast in the hotel (it's free) and ate in some Japanese food restaurant known as K-chef jui there was American and Japanese food there.. I ate some bootlegged fake tacos for dinner. Only visited 1 historical site today and I walked around downtown(very busy!!). what a gorgeous sight.....

We headed into Tokyo 2 more times, on Saturday 10/20 and again on Monday 10/22. It takes about an hour to get into the city, so it's a fun (long) day's outing. On Saturday, rain was forecast, and we decided to do a museum day. Well, we lucked out and it had cleared up; we had a dry, sunny, beautiful autumn day. First we went to Meguro, an area not well known to tourists in the SW part of the city. The reason for this little excursion was to ...
Tokyo, Japan bassalleckj... first stick comes out and then that corresponds with a number and then you look up the number and it gives you your fortune. It took me a while to look up my number since it is in japaneese. Luckily the locals are really nice and showed me which one was mine after seeing me struggle to play match. I got a great fortune with good luck all over it, but andrea unfortunately got a bad luck number so she decided to try again and got another bad luck number so she was really ...
Tokyo, Japan romero... Coming from the cold mountain air and slipping into a steamy bath feels amazing. After twenty minutes or so, I actually became too warm, a total reversal of sensation. Having left the bath, it is impossible to be cold for some time afterward - it's almost like the bath warms you all the way to your core and the heat continues warming you from the inside out. I think the bath is also an important exercise in openness and acceptance of one's body ...
Tokyo, Japan mmdillhoThe Best Travel Day Ever At first I was expecting another rough travel day, as we had to get out of our first cab because he had no idea where he was going. This was incident was followed by us running around trying to find the correct bus station and metro station, but as we broke a sweat doing this I will count it as a workout (And we wonder why we are gaining weight) Luckily for us this was not an omen of the rest of our travel day as during check ...
Tokyo, Japan scott_and_amy... with pride. Inside the park, people bought noisemakers and other chaserei with the team logo but in general, I showed more spirit than most by sporting my newly purchased Giants hat. --------------------------------------- - When I think of baseball, curry doesn't come to mind, but the people sitting in front of us were scarfing down pork filets with Japanese curry. The smell was maddening, I wanted it bad. Concession stands had great variety ...
