... with calves and foals, all with bells around their necks and in the case of the cows, bellowing their heads off, started descending on the town from all directions. What a spectacle! We didn't mind being held up for another hour or so. Apparently later in the day it all concludes with a ho-down (festa I think they call it here) in the streets of town. Not sure if the livestock gets to join in!

When we arrived back in our village we purchased a very famous blue cheese made in the nearby village of Cabrales. This is reputedly one of the best blue cheeses on the world and we could not disagree. It only cost 15 Euros per Kg and we washed it down with a 3 Euro half bottle of 2008 Rioja red on our patio.

alas, about 4km in, our vision came. In the shape of a black car of a
Spanish family who took pity on us, taking us all the way back down.
Hoorah! The day turned lovely blue skies and we really felt this was
a place we would really like to come back to and spend some quality
time. Hiking, Biking, Kayaking...a lot of ings. Truly is a place of
natural wonder, and I think Autumn would be incredible!
