Picos de Europa

A travel blog entry by swannieg

... with calves and foals, all with bells around their necks and in the case of the cows, bellowing their heads off, started descending on the town from all directions. What a spectacle! We didn't mind being held up for another hour or so. Apparently later in the day it all concludes with a ho-down (festa I think they call it here) in the streets of town. Not sure if the livestock gets to join in!
Finally got on our way again - down into another canyon valley - not ...

... looking cows with bells around their necks created the audio background to a magificemt vista. When we arrived back in our village we purchased a very famous blue cheese made in the nearby village of Cabrales. ... but
alas, about 4km in, our vision came. In the shape of a black car of a
Spanish family who took pity on us, taking us all the way back down.
Hoorah! The day turned lovely blue skies and we really felt this was
a place we would really like to come back to and spend some quality
time. Hiking, Biking, Kayaking...a lot of ings. Truly is a place of
natural wonder, and I think Autumn would be incredible!
