We found our rather funky hotel via Trip advisor. It's right on the river and a nice walk away along the Rhine to the center of town. We walked into town for a nice dinner out doors. All the restaurants offer fleece blankets for the outdoor tables.

This morning we set off the explore the Rhine river area. We stopped in Bacharch for a little shopping. Found a great pastry shop and Hummels. We then drove to Bingen where we took a ...

The towers are pretty and the city is romantic (of course I wasn't feeling romantic). Overall, Bautzen was a nice surprise. The staff on this cruise have all been very nice indeed. The food has been excellent at some meals and so so on others but the standard on the whole has been excellent. The Alsvin is a new ship so the standard of fittings is very good . Will certainly go on another river cruise as we cannot fault them for their organisation..

We've started our blog with a little tour limerick: An orchestra of seventy-nine, Travelling through Germany in rain and shine, Mr Kirkwood conducting Percy Grainger, Mr Roper, Coleridge-Taylor; Getting a standing ovation (applause!) so it must have been fine! Having a great week, had a lovely time in Dresden yesterday evening, looking forward to the final ...
