Bucharest, Romania buranowu... and got a room. The owner told us he had opened 3 months previously. When we told him we had been hoteliers in the US, he showed us throughout the property, including into the kitchen. Then he offered us dinner. Courses came and came, along with Romanian wine. Oh wait a minute, they probably haven't. Needless to say it freaked me out quite a lot. Luckily my bed was facing the other direction so i could sleep. Chris explained to her that Im a vegetarian. I figured that was safer than trying to explain that i do eat some meat but not this and not that. Then he left and i ...

Bucheresti, Romania dmm8... other blogs but the message of when you have a lot it is harder to come to Christ then when you have a little.. The Romanians today have much better lives compared to during the Communit era. So, they have less of a need for Christ. Jobs and money are much more plentiful. We tried to help the kids at the camp see that following the path of materialism in the Western world was not following God's path. Lots of them ...

I told them that they encouraged us to continue to embrace the simple life and be content with what you have. I may not blog this much, but we are kind of starting off slow. Lots of people are having trouble with jet lag. The living situation feels like living in a college dorm room. In Him, Tom

Bucharest, Romania gunnaringi... Bucharest was bulldozed to accommodate the building. Over 34,000 people were displaced in the process. 3. In the 1980's, when lit, the building consumed a day's electricity supply for the whole of Bucharest in four hours. 4. Over 700 architects and three shifts of 20,000 workers labored on it 24 hours a day for five years. Ironically, it used to be called The Palace of the People, which I suppose could be accurate if referring to the blood and sweat of the ...
Bucharest, Romania laural... to Thessaloniki, which turned out NOT to be the train to Thessalonikki. So I caught the next train BACK to Athens, then waited for the slow train up north. From Thessalonikki I hopped on an overnighter which went all the way up to BUCHAREST!!! I shared a room on the train with two Romanian guys who kept calling my 'my friend' and giving me cheap Romanian beer, no matter how much I told them I didn't want it. So 20 hours later we crossed the Romanian border, rather tipsy ...
Bucharest, Romania reece.carterUnfortunately Bucharest seemed to be one of the most uninspiring European Capitals that I have seen. Its one of those places that only seems to get negative feedback on the backpacker trail. But that said it still managed to grow on me after a couple of days. We didn't really get off to the best of starts after coming off our overnight train from Bulgaria and arriving only to be ...
