Last Day in Brazil

In Sao Paulo now, having spent last night in Araraquara picking up my stuff. Met some other IAESTE students at a place called Otello. Very nice as they had a local beers and it was really busy. Had food in the evening at Shopping Center North (in SP), which reminded me so much of malls in the USA, very Americanized and really busy!
Heading to the airport tomorrow, can't believe my time in Brazil is over...

After a very refreshing night's sleep and repacking our bags for five days of being away, we meet the fluffballs- four bouncy little pomeranians who have been setting up an alarm at the sound of visitors to their home. When approached by them enmasse, it is like being attacked by a gang of four-legged cottonballs. Or one fluffy powder puff with 16 legs... take your pick.
I make friends with Mama Pomeranain by scratching her belly, and the others ...

Our normal 2 hr bus took almost 5 with traffic jammed from Jundiai to the Monumento do Trevo da intrante de São Paulo / Marginal Tiete. Se we checked into Dona Zilah (our pousada here where we have been saying since 1998) and walked up to Avenida Paulista to have lunch and see a movie... in the blessed AC... its 33c... whew...

... He couldn't remove them or he would not be able to see. These regulations are strict and there are NO EXCEPTIONS! Well, he got out of looking silly in those gowns anyway.

We stil had the sustainability projects to observe but everyone was getting so tired from walking all day. We went to see the water trretment area. It was time for the long bus ride back.

... life was like there and I think it's a magical place where a few people managed to pretend that the world outside of Versailles didn't exist. The morality of that notion is somewhat off, but none less magical. The gardens did resemble the pictures I had seen and the fountains, rows of hedges and beds of blooming roses made me want to stay forever. But, rain clouds were looming and the enormity of the Sao Paulo airport awaited me, so I said goodbye.
