    This is a real American tourist town. It's kind of nice for a change with everything being so convenient but it's not a place I want to stay. The street street is full of bars, restaurants and shops all selling the same touristy rubbish. The beach is nice white sand but the water is brackish and full of dead seaweed ...

    ... we quickly learnt how logical a street layout can be, odd numbers (Calle 25) east-west, even numbers North-South and all one way, alternately. Given the state of some London roads we could use some of that logic, though street number 25 isn't very apealing as a name. Anyway it was a nice hotel, though again the swimming pool was just a bit too chilly! Peter bought himself a Mexican Panama hat (having thought they all came from Ecuador) nd we ate ...

    ... these Mayakoba properties are in the dark - so well lit and beautiful.

    Dinner at the Banyon Tree is at a long table at their signature Thai restaurant at which we are treated to some of the most amazing Thai food i've ever had. Its nothing short of exceptional.
    Following dinner we have our last site inspection - at 11pm. Delirious is an understatement. We've all got the giggles and its a bit unfair of us - but we are done!

    ... to a local cenotes. Cenotes - underground rivers - make excellent swimming pools and nearby Gran Cenotes was particularly brilliant. This time we hired snorkelling gear as you can see all the way to the bottom of the cave. It feels like you're floating over another world when you look down. I only wish there was a way of taking a decent picture to show you, but you'll all just have to go and see it for yourselves. There is simply ...

    It was a smoking hot day so it was time to join the locals and cool off in the ocean. Too bad the water temperature was pushing 30 degrees.

    There were two things we found in abundance here, iguanas and tourists. The iguanas turned out to be the friendlier of the two.
