No.22 Lai Chi Kok Road, Mong Kok, Kowloon Hong Kong, China, 2397-6683

Arrived in Hong Kong yesterday around 3pm local time. It was a pretty rough flight, didnt get much sleep and the food was fairly mouldy. We did get a bit of laugh though when they wanted to take our temperature coming through customs, must be screening for Avian flu or something!? So between tiredness, 25 degree weather and staying in the most highly populated area of Hong Kong (1,000,000 people per square kilometer!) its been a pretty overwhelming first impression. The Hotel were staying is ...
Hong Kong, China alandrachThe flight was great, as I slept for most of it. I had to fill in another form in relation to Swine Flu on arrival and they scanned with an ultra violet light. I found my travel desk to check in for the transit to the hotel. I guess they think we may all look alike as everything is done by stickers. You get given a different coloured or shaped sticker depending upon where you are going. I had a round yellow one!! The trip to the hotel was less than an hour and it gave me a chance to see some ...
Kowloon, Hong Kong badamsHong Kong was always going to be an expensive stop, but Pearl and Neil (friends of mine from work, who moved out six months ago) offered us a place to stay. The flight was pleasant and we were even fed, then we managed to get straight to Pearl and Neil's appartment block. When we arrived, we eventually managed to communicate with the porter enough to ring up to the flat. There was no answer, so we decided to wait, assuming neither of our hosts had got back from work. After half an hour we dec...

... of stem cell research was minimal. Unfortunately, it’s the gimmicks that are replacing substance. To quote that wise, old sage Mark Healy, the whole thing is "a parasitic response to a vacuous society." The next day the principal, Roy, felt the need to have a chat just to see how I was going, I’m now thinking that maybe it was a mistake telling him how I felt about the Apple tutorial, it turns out that the guy running it is a personal friend and very high up in ...
Fanling, Hong Kong prbrownWell China celebrated its 60th year of Communist rule today which meant it was a public holiday and I had a day of work! It was quite big news around the world and on the tv everywhere you could see the live celebrations that was going on in Beijing with its massive ceremonies.
As it was a national holiday here also in Hong Kong there was a big firework celebration in the harbour. Myself, Chris and some others went around to Andys ...
... goes, the earlier you offer the incense, the better luck you will have that year... Wong Tai Sin 's birthday, on the 23rd day of the 8th lunar month, is also a very busy time at the temple. Just drop off at MTR-Wong Tai Sin ... and you are basically there ...

Hong Kong, Hong Kong freezystar... entire China Portrait review here) "Travel photos taken by a stranger seldom fascinate. But 800 color images captured by Tom Carter as he spent two years on the road, traveling 56,000 kilometers through all of China's 33 provinces, make a dramatic exception... Carter's weighty book takes an effort to carry home from a store. But ...
Hong Kong, China tomcarter... the Philippines and Indonesia, respectively, since I read about how most families in Hong Kong have housekeepers and nannies. I saw a beautiful leather purse from a Japanese company and was very tempted. Lots of the shoes were on sale and were very reasonable, but I decided to pass. I then left Sogo, and went to walk around the different streets around, including a street market where they sold mostly clothing. It was just overwhelming, the amount of ...
Hong Kong, China kaasha... After a nice dinner at a restaurant up on the peak we spent a bit of time looking down at the views and then lined up again to go back down the tram. We decided to catch a taxi back rather than using the ferry again as we were pretty tired and I still had to finish packing, but it was a very fitting place to have our final meal overseas on this incredible trip. We went to bed, happy to think that we'd at last be back in Oz the next day!
