... to bike up the same mountain sometimes in groups of 4 or 6. Then there are the tour busses and the 18 wheelers also doing the same road. It was an exciting drive, fraught with peril, but we made it. After a bit of negotiating and speaking German to some tourists, we found the hotel. It appears to be very nice. I am going to go and jump in the heated pool.

... the winter snows. I was disappointed by the heavy layer of clouds that covered the Dolomiti but in awe of their scale and grandeur. I frustrated Brian by my frequent requests to stop to take photos but it is hard not to. I have resolved to return to see them in their full summer splendour. But that is for another time

Like for example the WW1 open air museums and the Lagazoi tunnels - closed until the summer or at least until the snow melts. A pity though we were prepared that it may be the situation.
