After seemingly endless of talk about travelling, and saving for it, we finally set off from London Stanstead on Wednesday 23rd September 2009. We were lucky enough to have both sets of parents come to see us off at the airport, as well as my (Lindsay) sister and Marcelo; Kate's brother Sam is with us as well to watch the F1 in Singapore on Sunday. So after a really nice send off, we got on with the airport security formalities and prepared for boarding the Death Flight!
Strangely, at ...
We decided to overnight at a hotel at Kuala Lumpur Airport as we wanted to see some friends in Kuala Lumpur but had a very early flight next morning. We were tired after the flight from Gold Coast but it worked out well staying at the Concorde Inn hotel which is a cheap hotel at Kuala Lumpur Airport, as we had done before, the rates was cheap and the Concorde Inn is an ideal inexpensive hotel, much cheaper than the Pan Pacific hotel which is at Kuala Lumpur Airport, arranged with Kuala Lumpur...

... powder-like, and said "What is that?" to which the man held up a nut. Pointing to the ground powder, the dumbfounded woman replied "But they're small...". How does this woman find her own mouth to eat so much, I wonder?
The next day I headed to the Lake Garden, to the West of Chinatown. I initially asked about the Hop on, Hop Off bus service, which involves buses picking you up at a point on a circular route, and taking you round the city for a hop off ...

In Kuala Lumpur.
Well it was a great day for flying, perfect weather. The morning started off with a mad dash around the house making sure that I had everything, and organising a taxi cause my housemate had a morning visit to the emergency room… Anyway, after a last minute decision to take my jacket, I was out the door and into the taxi. $35 dollars later, I was at the international terminal, clueless ...
... town that night. This was one of the
best experiences of my trip; we just sat out at a table amongst local Malays
under colorful lights; like Christmas lights. A local Malay dude took an
interest to us and asked us both about our travels. He was very nice, curious,
and down to earth. Fabian guided me to some common Malay dishes. He had a
spicy tom yam soup, which is also common in Thailand. I had a Malay rice dish
called Nasi ____ Pattaya (yes ...
... to make sure we went up to the skybridge during the day time. I couldn't believe it but you can acutally get up to the bridge (a little more than halfway up I think) for FREE as long as you are one of the first 1,400 to get there in the AM. Since we wanted to make sure we got the tix we got there super early and then found out once we got there that we could have slept in and still had no problem (there aren't really that many tourists in KL).
The skybridge ...
... haha. He said Ok, and one of them took the photo of Tom and the other 2 girls. One of the girls happened to brush her breast against Tom, which seemed to excite Tom, because he had the immediate need to tell us after the photo had been taken; how deprived is he?! (Tom: In my defence that was quite a blatant joke. Well.... half-joke... Ahem)?! Is it really getting to that stage here?! Unfortunately .... probably, yes. He also looked very smug about having his photo taken with ...

He lays in bed in the dark all day, watching movies on his video cam, and mumbling "No worries". I think he is probably on the run from European drug dealers, so I don't want to disclose more about him, but you get the picture. For those who have been to Pai in NW Thailand--he could be the Mayor ...
