... because we didn’t understand a word of it, we ate the local gingerbread delicacies, we shopped at the markets, we warmed up from the rain and had a cup of coffee, and eventually had dinner in a quaint, very authentic restaurant where he had traditional Franconian food and some of the local Tucher beer.
The next morning we had a nice breakfast at the hotel and headed out for our last day of ...
... an hour, but they did have to make 200 total (there is an error rate of about 1 in 10 though, but the errors are just sold at 2nd rate rather than first).
In order to make the piece, you have to get a blob (yes, blob) of liquefied glass and blow into it to begin the shaping process. Once there is a decent size bubble in the glass, they lower it into a wood mold and continue to blow the bubble bigger, all the while taking the desired shape. Once it is completely hollowed out ...
... and took buses to Nuremberg. We visited the Zeppelin Field where the big Nazi Rallies were held and the Hall of Justice where the Nuremberg Trials took place. Bought a souvenir pin at Market Square and had cokes at a bistro while waiting for the bus to take us back to the ship.
... 8230;This team happens to be in the german league and is the home team to Nuremburg! So we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to watch a home game of our beloved team!
The local fans are intense. Coming in full fan gear of scarves, jerseys, flags and some even brought tamtams that were miked up to increase the energy of the crowd! Me and Chris got scarves and a pretzel and beer and sat to ...
... older feel to it. The center of the city is pretty small and can be walked around in an hour. Outside the walls is a very industrialized city which we didn’t take to much time to see. In every German city there is a Hauptmarkt. This is the town square where there are usually marlets and exhibitions going on. They were selling lots of fruits and veggies and handmade stuff. Its fun to see what each ...
Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany ktchris... ended up paying 4Euro twice because someone left their MR STEVES guide book in her backpack she didn't want to carry around. Oh well!
Today's plan was for a short and sweet tour of Nuremburg and then head to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. We entered the old downtown through an original medieval city gate, with a moat and everything, ok, it was dry, but still very cool. After checking out an old (circa 1973) shopping village full of hand made craftwork ...
... for over thirty years. It is amazing how women can chat for ages even though neither speaks the language of the other. This lady was learning English from kindergarten sight cards so that she could keep up with her grandchildren. Her house was four hundred years old and featured a staircase carved from a single oak tree. At last we had had enough and began the long walk home. So exhausted were we that, for the first time during our holiday, we decided to end the day without going out to dinner.
Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany cullism... out in the one that had ox statues in it. It was a huge tent. There was a huge stage at the front and there was a bar and tons of tables with benches. Kerstin said it was similar to Oktober fest only much smaller. The band was very good. They played a lot of popular American music and German music. There were people who were standing up on the benches and dancing. It was also Brazilian night there so they had a ...

Back down in the Christmas madness (right about now it starts seeming like madness) we get ourselves some Nurnberger Bratwursts. They are very different from the Thuringer variety, and in my opinion not nearly as good (of course I am also biased to the local delicacy.) Instead of a huge brat that hangs out either end of the bread roll, they give you three little sausages that fit in the roll. We wash ...
... also wandered up to Kaiserburg (castle) that had massive stone walls which surround the castle and it's manicured gardens. Live music was playing in the town square so I sat for awhile and sipped on a Pils and just watched the townspeople and tourists walk by. Overall it was a very relaxing day.
