My Trip to Malaysia

A travel blog entry by 01962

Feb. 19 to 29, 2008 Me and my family drove around Malaysia. We rented a van in Johor Bahru and then drove north to Melaka and stayed over night. I learned that Melaka was an important trading port for many centuries. Then we drove to Kuala Lumpur in Selangor state. Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia. We had lunch at the Hard Rock Café and …

Making the most of a short day

A travel blog entry by avengerpenguins

An early morning flight from Stansted (dep 01:30) meant that we were able to sleep through quite a decent chunk of the 12 hour direct flight. Air Asia is a budget airline but the seats were quite comfortable with a reasonable amount of leg room.

We were only having a single night in KL and the airport is quite a distance from the …

Finally out of the airport

Well it may have been a short stay, but I definitely left my mark on Kuala Lumpur and it on me. Eight hours of sleep, a dim sum buffet, an hour work out, and a shower and I was a new person. I checked out of the hotel, stored my luggage, got a map, and headed out.

First lesson learned: they drive on the left hand side of the road in …

A travel blog entry by geny

An unexpected stopover...

When originally booking this trip and flying via KL to Denpasar (Bali), i was considering a stopover in KL for a couple of days. After consideration, i thought this would be more tiring than just flying straight through.Plus it would have been an additional $300 for the pleasure... which i couldn't really justify. Well, King of delays here, and as …

A four * hotel with five * service

    from anonymous

My wife and I stayed in a Premier room at the Concorde. There are many advantages in using a Premier room including a one way free limousine service from (or to) KL airport, fast check in/out, a separate lounge with free refreshments, access to a swimming pool and keep fit centre and more.

Our room was large and well equipped with a good sized comfortable bed,a spacious, clean bathroom and the usual mini bar, TV and internet connections.

Breakfast in the Spices restaurant was varied and of excellent quality. There are three restaurants, including the Hard Rock Cafe, with food to suit all tastes available 24 hours a day.

The hotel is well situated for the tourist attractions of the Golden Triangle and is adjacent to a monorail station. Taxis, which are reasonably priced, are available from the hotel forecourt.

The distinguishing feature of the Concorde is the quality of the customer service. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive and make a genuine effort to make your stay trouble free and enjoyable.

I recommend this hotel to TripAdvisor readers without reservation and would certainly return myself.

    Great value in Bukit Bintang

    from martinsa

Stayed here for about a week on the way to Australia in April 2003 with my wife and two kids.

While not providing any excessive luxury I must say it gives great value for the price level.

The rooms are nice and clean, the staff are polite and the pool area excellent.

I will definitely consider staying here again next time I go to KL.

    A Happy Time Guaranteed

    from rich76

I stayed at the hotel for a week and had a lovely time. The view of the Petronas Towers from my room was lovely and the staff were consistantly friendly and helpful. The rooms are a little tired around the edges, but not scruffy.

My only shock was that when I went for a massage at the health spa I was immediately asked if I wanted a massage or s--. Even more suprisingly, it wasn't by the girl, behind closed doors, the offer was made by the chap running the payment counter on the way in!

I've stayed in most of KL's best hotels but this is the only one to openly boast a brothel. I was a bit shocked. But it's an easy flaw to overlook as it's not in any way a sleazy hotel.

Still, forwarned is forearmed... so just avoid the health spa (unless that's your thing) and you'll find this to be a great place to stay.

    One of the best

    from capatan

I can't rate this hotel highly enough, I really can't! I stayed at the Concorde twice over a two week period, and on both occasions I found it to be one of the best hotels i've ever stayed in. Value-for-money-wise, the Concorde is second to none, everything is so inexpensive, from dinner to airport tranfers to the rooms themselves (I can totally recomend the 'premiere' rooms, but the 'standard' rooms are also very good if you are on a real budget). Also the service is superb, the staff are very friendly and highly professional. The location is central, but not in the thick-of-it-all (so you'll be able to get a good nights sleep) and you are right on top of the monorail which runs all over the city centre. All in all, I have no problem recomending this hotel to anyone and everyone!

    Great value

We had a stopover in KL and found the hotel very good. We took a half day tour of the city and had dinner in The Spices restaurant upstairs. It was a very impressive a la carte restaurant. The meal was wonderful and staff very friendly. I loved my stay in KL and this hotel.

    Highly Recommended

I stayed here for 5 nights last September after staying at a few cheap places in the Bukit Bingtang area. I had some friends staying in Renessaince, but they were not overly impressed by the service and room they were staying in, so I opted for the Concorde instead which was close by. I have to say that the hotel surpassed my own expectations - and in hindsight I think it is under-rated. I was impressed by the enthusiasm and politeness of their staff; Room service was quick and efficient too. The room itself was a decent size; bathroom was very clean with two basins; and I had a fantastic view of the Petronas Towers from my room window.

The hotel is in a great location and I have already booked my room (the same room as last time) for my stay next week :-)

    Best Hotel in KL

    from livinginpenang

We simply will not stay anywhere else. I'm American and my wife is Malaysian Chinese and we both love this place. We stay here with our 2 year old baby with no problems. The staff is great. Upgrade to the Premire package and get VIP checkin, a fantastic room, VIP breakfast, and free entrance to their workout room. All for between RM 200 and 300. Its location is perfect for nightlife, food and downtown shopping at KLCC. A HardRock cafe is attached so I can get my fix of western food. Forget the Nikko and other overpiced downtown hotels....

    Fantastic hotel and great location!

    from anonymous

My partner and i stayed at this hotel in the summer of 2002. We got a v good deal via an asia hotels website, which included an upgrade to the 'premier' wing and a lift from the airport in a limo. It was fanstic value. after travelling from london to kl it was great to have the driver waiting for us! the concorde is not amazingly pretty froom the outside, but inside it is very nice. the premier wign is amazing. very modern rooms, ours had a view of the petronas towers! cd player and tv. great bathroom with huge walk-in shower, bath and 2 sinks. total luxury all round. being in the premier wing means you have breakfast ina colonial-style building right by the pool. excellent food and a fantastic start to the day. the pool istself is great and has a view of the petronas towers. being in the premier wing means you check in a special area. we found the staff could not do enough for us, despite the fact that we arrived with backpacks. the hotel also has a fun bar with cabaret. we loved the concorde so much we booked in again at the end of our trip. I would definitely recommend it, just make sure you go for a room in the premier wing!

    Lovely Concorde

    from anonymous

The Concorde is an under-rated hotel. We visited in July 2003 and had a lovely time. The hotel is within easy reach of everything and has a splendid view of the Petronas Towers which are truely elegant.

The pool is nice and the gym is good too. The bar is nice and friendly too.

Its about 10 minutes taxi ride away from the train station and is approx 10 minutes walk to the Petronas Towers, where there are great shops and eateries.

    We would go back.
