... poor in a really expensive place we were still glad we stopped off here. The seaweed smelt so awful here so we didn't take full advantage of the beach but we enjoyed cruising the streets, watching random shows in the main square and eating cheapish Mexican food with the locals. Can't say I'd come back here in any hurry when I can drive 20minutes from home to Surfers Paradise and get the same experience, but I'm glad we popped in for a short ...

The monastery at Izamal is built on top of a huge platform that once supported a Mayan pyramid. It's painted a startling shade of ochre yellow, and much of the town follows suit.

Emilie and Leandra planned to make crÍpes for breakfast for all the house mates, served with Mango and marple sirup. The late afternoons we sometimes spent in the backyard enjoying ...

Given we are going to dinner at the Banyon tree after this it is quite extravagant. They have gone to great lengths to show case their culinary and bar tending skills which are both impressive.
Soon it is time to go to the Banyon tree - by boat! We are taken through the Mangroves in the dark and really get to see ...

... the Caribbean sea. It makes a lovely backdrop and having a beach on site is a great way to cool down after hiking around the complex in what feels like an oven. The only downside to these ruins are the other tourists. It's so close to Playa del Carmen and Cancun that lots of package tours head over so it can get pretty packed. Even so, we enjoyed the views and hung out with the local lizards for a couple of hours before cycling - along ...
