... very nice atmosphere. They all had superb old buildings.

As well as historic all towns, there were the Saxon fortified churches, the Painted churches of Southern Bucovina, and the wooden churches of Maramures.

Add to this all the wonderful rural landscape –impossibly green vistas, fields of sunflowers, haymaking, horse-drawn ploughs and long, skinny 4-wheeled carts.

... would start to eat a vegetable garden and (normally) an old women would come out with a stick or broom and start hitting the cows and (I'm assuming) shouting abuse in Ukrainian. Its a really nice sight and they all wear little bells so you get a lovely tinkling sound as they pass by.
