... Ubeda before too late.
We made the run up the Mediterranean coast to Malaga. The weather was hot, but not humid or uncomfortable. We rode mostly on the two lane highway that hugged the coast and followed the Autoroute, although both combined in some parts. In one small city in particular we noticed that there was an abundance of pharmacies. And when I mean abundant, I mean every block had one.
Once we reached Malaga, we ...
... language school where people 16 and over can take night courses in English and other languages where another auxiliar from the US is teaching. My students take so many of their core and elective courses per semester in English, I believe three or four, so I will be teaching lessons on my own as well as assisting the other teachers in various subjects in English. I begin on Oct. 1st and will have much more to tell then! We then took the bus out to Villa Gordo...literally Fat Village ...
Jaen, Spain manningra... back down to Granada, spend one night in a Hostel, and then catch an overnight train to Barcelona, where we plan to spent a good bit of time. By the way... sorry about the lack of photos lately... we've still been taking quite a few pictures, the problem is that... well the problem is that I don't feel like going through the whole process of transfering them, picking out the good ones, re-sizing and then uploading them. Maybe tomorrow :-)
Ubeda, Spain fritzandjenny... shucks). We took a bus to Cazorla in the morning, then had to wait a long time for the mini bus that takes people out into the park itself. The mini bus dropped us off a couple kilometers from our campsite, so we hiked in and set up camp. We were a little bored, and things got a little silly. (Those are my knees. Really Really, just my knees). I think I ...
Cazorla, Spain fritzandjenny... to practice and we've even learned a couple of good idioms and a few dirty words, which is always handy. They manage to work a tiny lesson into almost every topic we discuss, without disrupting the flow of conversation. Since there is not a whole lot to "see and do" in Ubeda, we've also had some extra free time to lounge out on their gorgeous patio and improve our tans. We've also taken some day trips outside of Ubeda. More to come soon...
Ubeda, Spain fritzandjenny... randomly getting up, or yelling out answers, or anything like that. The first five minutes or so were fairly awkward especially because I didn't know how much English they spoke, and I didn't know what they were supposed to be able to say. Plus, one tends to get kinda awkward when the teacher says, "Why don't you ask them a few questions about themselves?" You think, "Do I ask all of them a general question? Do I go one by one and ask them ...
Bedmar, Spain kwirky250... out until 12:00 for the most part and many of the clubs don´t open until 3:00, I just could´t bring myself to going out a 3:00, even when on vacation that is a bit much for me , I lasted until 1:30 and I thought that was pretty good. As in Slyvania the younger folk get a Bottle, 2 liter and head to the park to mix their own for a few hours. I was out last night and observed this local ritual. It is a good think this wasn´t legal when I ...
Granada, Spain dmckinnon... informed that a shot would cost over $100, and I am way too cheap to pay over $30 to potentially save my life! Luckily we were told that an alternative would be to go to a pharmacy with my note and purchase the vaccine without having to see a doctor. Putting off this errand until the next day, we attempted to find some night life, music in particular. I used my clever Spanish skills to ask some random guy where to find some. He was very helpful and led us through a ...
Granada, Spain traciehowe... and no one was around to ask for help. The day was coming on and I could now see things a little better but I was getting more and more upset. They only sell 300 tickets and apparently if you are not there very early, you will miss out. I had visions of a super long queue and me turning up just as the last ticket was sold. I decided not to let myself get upset about it telling myself that no matter what, it was not the ...
Granada, Spain whereshegoes... while the other is always watching you, ineptly assigns us our room. The old man takes us up stairs to a floor of slim hallways lined with barred windows. Later we would find that these halls would be tinged with a welcoming blood-red colour during the day (saturated is perhaps a better choice). The old man shows us our not-so-private room, and then the filthy ...
