What Happened in Spain Part II

... in our program - the beach. Yep, the beautiful, white sandy beaches of Cadiz, the most ancient city in Spain.
We had a fun train ride there - Amanda, Jen, Claire, Shannon, Alice, Hedi, Emily, Lizzy, Emily P., Joanne, Aaron, Ian, and Reid. I played a card game called Big 2 and got flicked in the forehead by Ian when I lost, no mercy. Apparently luck was not on my side that morning because at the end of that train ride, I still had a red welt ...

Day with the Host Family

... and Cameron Diaz in it. I hope they get a part! Lunch was interesting and kind of like eating in a Chinese restaurant as the plates just kept coming! After lunch we said goodbye to the sons and continued walking and finally ended up back at the ship but not before taking a rest in the Plaza DE Espana across from the ship. When we were there the park cat ladies came by and fed the wild cats who were pretty friendly. Great ending to a very nice day!

Sherry Tasting and the Andalusian Horses

Today was the second and last excursion we did through Holland America. Jacqui had wanted to see the Andalusian horse show, and we could also get in a sherry tasting with it!

First off was the tour of the Gonzales Byass winery. I'm not a big fan of the normal sherries, but I love the sweet sherries. And it was cheap. I got a ...

We had a nice lunch and walked around the town. The streets were narrow and tiny and mike did a great job of navigating through the narrow roads (he's getting much better)...we left and started our 2.5 hour drive from there to Nerja our destination for the next 7 days ...

We went to see the pier with the Castillo de San Sebastian, the Castillo de Santa Catalina, the cathedral, the old town and the beautiful Parque Genoves with waterfalls and parrots, and it was pretty much everything, so we went to the famous la Caleta beach and enjoyed ourselves there.

To my surprise, the beach was full of people ...

... before by a buyer from Harrods. After Fes we parted ways. James, Kit and I headed up to Tanger on an UBER long train ride. Jaimes made some friends with an old dude who gave us oranges and told us anecdotes such as the time he hurt his leg playing football and the doctor mistakenly first operated on the wrong foot and he woke up with two casts. oh the good times. Tanger was less than impressive and we quickly got a ticket to go to Spain. The fiasco that ensued is ...

De straat van Gibraltar en Tanger

After listening to Claires repetition of the phrase (drummed into us by Victor the previous night) he responded with "Perfecto!" and produced exactly the required item. Another small success on the road to Cape Town! After Cadiz (recommend a few days here to anybody) we headed off along the coast (the Costa de la ...
