... to pick up our rental car. Taxis are definitely expensive on St. Croix. So much so that it is actually cheaper to rent a car if you're going to be traveling around. The following day, Steve Chris, Ron and I headed to Christiansted to pick up our catamaran to Buck Island. During the full day tour, we sailed to Buck Island, stopped at the beach and swam, then went around the other side of the island to snorkel at the reef, then sailed to another ...
Frederiksted, St. Croix, Virgin Islands US dudeonthemoveDay 5: 20th April 2009, Monday Time: 10 am EST Location: St. Croix, USVI Here was a day I was eager about! The reason? there were going to be lots of first-time experiences throughout the day! Beginning with my first trip on a SEAPLANE! Ever since I watched "Tale Spin" on Disney, I was fascinated by this concept of a plane taking off and landing on water...and so when I got the opportunity to experience the ...
St. Croix, USVI, United States a_travelbug... m just a west coast girl. I'll get back to you with pictures and narrative, we're having fun hanging with our new friends but it gets dark so early that we have to make effort to not drink until a decent hour. It's 7:30 now and it's been pitch black dark for 2 hours, the bars are always open and people drink well before noon on a regular basis--Never-land for sure. Love you and miss you all, I'll get back to you soon!

With acres of rolling green hills, St. Croix's plantation estates also bore crops of okra, cabbage, corn, and other vegetables still prominent in Caribbean cuisine. As the sugar industry declined after the 1960s, tourism became the most important industry on the island.
Christiansted, St. Croix, Virgin Islands US shebapod... including a walking tour of both central and old Madrid and lots and lots of tapas! We figure we'll arrive at our hotel in Tel Aviv about 32 hours after we leave our house...that includes 3 flights and a lot of layover time. The next time you hear from us should be in Tel Aviv. It's interesting that most of you plan a vacation for ...
Christiansted, Virgin Islands US ec4stx... had a beautiful house on a hill overlooking a beach - absolute paradise. It was one of the best weeks of my life (except for the bad sunburn which was entirely my fault) and I constantly wish I was back there. The diving was great and I spotted a bunch of stingrays, sea turtles, and reef fish (just don't snorkel at buck island if you're serious about diving - loads of tourists and all the coral was bleached). A great place for sandwiches between dives is Turtles deli - I ...
Frederiksted, St. Croix, Virgin Islands US gypsytravels... write this there is a hummingbird humming it's way around a bush outside my bedroom window.) Now I would have been so disappointed to miss out on the leap, it was just my cup of tea. It is in the rainforest, fairly near the fruit stand and you access it by a long , long canopied driveway, that takes you up the hill and into the most ramshackle yard with old decrepit vehicles everywhere, at least four dogs, only one of which could muster up any interest in us at all. At the far side ...
Christiansted, United States jacontheroad... On the way back a bloke from New Jersey got talking to me and it was a wierd thing, but all the big concerts that he's been to mainly at the JFK Stadium in New York I had seen in London. Right from Pink Floyd Animals tour to The Who last year! However it was because of him that I was distracted from my sunburn vigilance ( on the way to the island I had looked A bit like ' White lady, she burn ' with my muslin kaftan, long shorts and sarong over the rest of my legs while the ...
Christiansted, United States jacontheroad... E to take me back there, because we went there unfortunately after I had skinted myself. After the Columbus thing we skirted the Northern coast road winding up down and aruond , rarely losing sight of the glistening sea ( St. Croix fact - St. Croix is one of very few islands in the carribean that is entirely surrounded by the carribean sea. Most islands have the carribean on one side and the atlantic on the other. Fact ) While you are travelling in Sweenys open sided bus you're ...
