Before we got to Elko we went thru a new tunnel they were just completing, infact, the west bound was still not open. We got to Palisades and the Altitude was 6000 sometimes you couldn't tell we were climbing in altitude but the last push in this area was a hard climb. The poor motorhome hates this arid dry weather but we made it to the campground in Elko. Forgot to take a ...

This happened a few times during the 300 miles to my destination. With about 80 miles left before I hit elko I ran into a rain storm and instead of putting on my rain gear I just soldiered on with the uncomfortable wet cold. Once I arrived at the hotel I noticed the bike looked like I had been running it in the mud. It was a mess.

... on the bus during overnight drives on beds in a communal fashion. It's not as comfortable as your own bed, but if you want to cover hundreds of kilometres it's as comfortable as you can get. Other activities on the tour are done in a communal fashion too, from setting up the cooking and cleaning tables and utensils to organising the daily trips. The other main element of GT that differentiates it is the locations visited. Mostly ...
