... to watch while we ate chips and salsa, then returned the DVD for another, which we watched later. Kelsey loved being able to cook dinner--and I mean beyond preparing microwave pasta dishes. She made ranch chicken and peas, and I did the dishes. Kinda like normal life :)

We're thankful for our little room in Candlewood. It'll be a nice home base for a while. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go make some tea.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States jimcabay... very crowded and we found it hard to get around as there were so many small highways and freeways competing for space and crossing each other to include the numerous bridges. Several one-way streets only added to the confusion. A number of the tourist attractions were closed for the season and the main parks not only lacked color and cleanliness but were also under construction.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States jimcabay... spend one more day longer with this guy, there is definitely no way I could've kept my mouth shut next time he said something so ignorant and ridiculous.

The crepes were artfully done, but a world away from the crepes I ordered last time. Definitely not sugar overload, and tasting decidedly "more healthy" than yesterday. If that is indeed possible with crepes in the first place.

The Andy Warhol Museum was just as I expected it would be. A big giant loft space, full of pop ...
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States starlagurl... seeing a place and walking the same paths and buildings of the people I am interested in works better for me. Today's touring took us through the Capitol building and The Library of Congress. We were supposed to be here today. Election day, November 4th 2008. My friend Ali believes this and I have to say that the more experiences I have of this nature the more I agree with his philosophy. Ali believes that we are where we are supposed to ...
Washington, Pennsylvania, United States heligypsy... it was our last chance to ride the Metro, we decided to take it to the end of the line, past Alexandria, on the way back. Once it goes by the Pentagon it is above ground and the lush green scenery is gorgeous. We enjoyed looking at the brick row homes and mansions, and of course another glimpse at Alexandria was a highlight as well. Sadly, it was time to go back to the hotel and start packing for our flight in the morning.
Washington, District of Columbia, United States joallyblue... before midnight. Luckily, upon our insistence, they slept before 2, and in our bed. Day 2: We were all up early to be sure, and I was dreadfully worried about what would happen after my lady went to work. Since we had been up late, I took her to work. Her dad wanted to come along, so I prepared myself for the first of some presumably uncomfortable moments. The ride back was strange to say the least. I thought I knew some Chinese. And I did. But I also realized ...
Washington, District of Columbia, United States danielwolfe... there was a tourist information centre. We wanted to get internet access to find somewhere to stay in Charlotte the next evening, and although we were able to send some e-postcards of ourselves back home, they didn't have internet access, but pointed us in the direction of the public library, where they said we could use the facilities for free. At the library, we had to wait a while in the queue for the computers, and there was a fairly ...
Washington, District of Columbia, United States huwwilliams... The journey was fairly quiet, and we arrived in Washington at about 4pm. We got a taxi to the Days Inn on New York Avenue NE, which, we discovered, was a bit far from downtown for our liking, but was cheap enough nonetheless. On entering our room, we discovered that it contained only one bed, and soon realised that we had cocked up the booking and reserved the wrong type of room. The bed was massive though ...
