It was only overnight but so very comfortable. We have stayed at Comfort Inns & Suites during our cross-country trip and have been very satisfied.

Baton Rouge is a nice little city and the capitol complex is impressive, with well-groomed dark green lawns, circular walkways and a serene lake. And it is right in the middle of the city.

On down the road we decided to take a detour south to the shoreline. We arrived at the beach in Bay St. Louis where a sign that we studied told us ...

... Tallahassee we saw a sign proclaiming we had now entered the Eastern Time Zone. One hour ahead with the clocks. We are not three hours ahead of home.

We arrived in Tallahassee right around 5:00, which seems to be our norm. Rush hour, of course, I declared. Fortunately, the route we took to get to the Sam's Club, although surface streets, wasn't too bad. We found the place with no problem - the GPS did not fail us this ...

... time we were 10 miles northwest of Fort Pierce, it became evident the ride was NOT going to be smooth below the clouds, so I opted to take the time to climb above for smooth air, rather than get bounced around for another 2.25 hours. Turned out to be a good move, though the tops were somewhere around 10k' MSL, with a few build ups to 11.5k'. No problem navigating around them. It added 15 minutes to our time en route, but the ride was smooth and sights were beautiful ...

Off to Tallahassee, Florida today. It should be a 6 hour drive today. Drove into the state of Alabama at 9:15 a.m. We saw the USS Alabama Battleship "The Hero of the Pacific." It rests at the Battleship Park on Mobile, Bay. I have a pic of it from the moving truck for your viewing enjoyment. I saw a truck blow it tire while it was passing us. Sounds like a shot gun with lots of smoke. Cool for me but not too cool for the driver I would think. 10:30 a.m. we entered ...
