... the limestone cliffs of the canyon, on both sides of the road, and it's spectacularly beautiful. I scoped out the canyon Saturday evening, then went back Sunday morning to get the best shots I could. I went to the Roughlock Falls area this time, for the first time. Roughlock Falls is really a triple falls and I was impressed with how beautiful that canyon is. I'm going to go back ...
Spearfish, South Dakota, United States poodlady... in. Other than that this town in mostly filled with slot machines, and lots of em. Which again we also took in :(
We started out with a 40.00 dollar limit, and Jess rocked the Wheel of Fortune slot machine for probably 3 straight hours off the same 40 bucks. She more than doubled our 40 at one point, and I think we both knew we should have cashed ...
... We then ate lunch and went to the State Hot Springs Park and played in the disgusting pools and Mara slid down the slide. Both girls suffered injuries...Dessa - doubled scraped knees on the brush concrete floors and Zoe when Mara slammed her finger in a locker door. I was happy to leave and get on the road, We drove through Tensleep and over the southern Big Horn Range. I was literally on gas fumes when we hit ...
Spearfish, South Dakota, United States mountaingirlz... full of history and most importantly clear cool streams for fishing!!!
We stayed just south of Deadwood, which is an amazing little town, exactly what you would expect a cowboy town to look like. recently due to the need for the city to keep all the old buildings maintained the city has allowed gambling, which in some ways appears to be taking over the town. we were there a week or so after Sturgis bike week, and there were still ...
... up on time for breakfast. Only had noodles this time because the inn didn't offer continental breakfast. Oh well! We then left for the national park again in the morning. It was amazing to see how huge the park was because it took TWO hours to get to the north side of the park for Big Mammoth springs! We were coming from the south side, by the way.
In Big Mammoth springs, we were able to witness the beauty and the smell of hot springs in their glory! It was sad to see ...

I went back to Badlands National Park in the morning for a bit more of a look around before heading off towards the Black Hills area of South Dakota and the old western town of Deadwood. I had watched the Deadwood TV services back home and had to make sure I visited the town itself.
On the way to Deadwood, I stopped at Mt Rushmore and also the Crazy Horse Monument. I am not sure why I bothered with the Crazy Horse Monument. They are still along way from ...
... was hosting a BMW bike festival. We joked and said we hoped the harley bikers would show up and give it to them. When we pulled in there was a drunk man named bob who showed us to, as he called it, "the best spot in the black hills". He ended up being ok, we gave him a beer for some firewood and he soon smothered us with his presence.
Spearfish, South Dakota, United States lebldavid... stop in Bozeman and walked around the downtown area a little. We ate some DELICIOUS tomato soup at the Community Co-op and then we were on the road again.
We had been planning on driving to the SE corner of Montana, then camping just over the border in Wyoming near Devil's Tower. Well, we crossed the border into Wyoming, then we crossed the border into South Dakota. Huh?!? It was funny because both of us saw the ...
... which was pretty beautiful, all things considered. The town was 5 miles off the expressway and at the top of the these awesome rolling hills. Admiring the scenery, I almost missed "Mel's," but I caught it and pulled into the lot. There were 2 guys working- I think one was Mel and he was a chubby little character with thick horn-rimmed glasses which he was continuously pushing up on his nose. I swear, I think he had them taped in the middle ...
