      • Leaving Wendy's early to drive to Salem, OR.
      • Four hour drive over 223 miles.
      • Arrived in Salem, parked in front of a Starbucks and walked downtown.
      • Ate at a Cafe called Break Point Coffee Co.
      • The next day, I visited the House of Seven Gables and tied Toto on a pole outside.
      • It was the inspiration for a Nathaniel Hawthorne novel.
      • Went back to Starbucks after a few fun outings with Toto.

One of the cats apparently decided it was a bag to play with!! I did not hear anything during the night!! All the cats have decided they are starved today and have spent all day whining to me about it. Believe me, they are not starved! Not much to do ...

Had a very relaxed morning for once (although still awake by 6:30, but nice not to have to get up) and enjoyed a leisurely motel breakfast. We then hit the road and headed north up the coast. We had a few scenic spots by the beach before ...

... and board only, not for the actual volunteering. Which was great news to me while volunteering on a budget. At this point, for some reason I set a date in my phone calendar of November 11th and titled the appointment "Africa<3", before even contacting the Hostel to ask about openings.
